Welcome to the playoffs men, first up, Maple Leafs @ Nordiques. The nordiques closed out the season with a ginormous shootout win over the Brewers to take the 3rd seed in the playoffs and take on the last placed Maple Leafs. The Maple Leafs ended the season with a 7-2 loss to the Storm Kings who have owned them all season. The Leafs, despite finishing last, have garnered some serious respect around the league for their intense style of play, giant hearts and tenacious fore-checking. Anchored by captain & gate-keeper Kenny "La MVP" Lallier & team water boy, Sean "The Waterboy" Casavante, the Leafs are poised for a huge upset tonight over another "offensively" challenged club in the Nordiques. The Nordiques have been as inconsistent as you could possibly get, with huge blowout wins, huge blowout losses, lack of scoring at times. They are backed by superstar goaltender Johnny "Back Fat" Turner, goal scorers Ian "The Coat" Coates & Roger "The Drill" Phillips, as well as the giant green Pilon, Shawn "McBuffalo Wings" McDermott. The Nords also host one of the most intimidating men in the UVHL as Tommy "The Rake" Dakai prowls the blue line like an unleashed doberman. If the Leafs are to be successful, they need some production out of their top line, Dougie "Light-Weight" Heavisides, Joey "The Mute" Hayes & Johnny "Squirt" Thomas. Their defense has been drastically improved with the 6 foot 6 inch Chuck "The Lanky Lurker" Gaede, who has a wingspan like a Boeing 747. Kirt Johnson also probes the point, with a shot like a pre-pubecent girl. This should be a good one, since the Leafs ALWAYS play the Nords tough. My prediction, The Leafs Lallier will turn away 35 shots in a 4-2 loss.

It was a battle from the drop of the puck as the #3 Nordiques hosted the #6 Maple Leafs. The Leafs came out with a bit of a chip on their shoulders, wanting to show that they could play with anyone, and certainly did prove that. The Leafs, anchored by the solid goaltending of Kenny "The Kid" Lallier (27 saves) had a seasons worth of frustration and disappointment that they wanted to wash away with a playoff victory over an inconsistent and short benched Nordiques squad. The night was encapsulated by the Nordiques stud netminder, Johnny "Back Fat" Turner's 35 saves(3 ga) & Roger "The Dentist Drill" Phillips hatrick plus assist in their 5-3 win. Another high point was the return of Kelly "The Knee" Park to the bench for the Nords as his tactics, analogies and strategies were sheer brilliance and just darn stupendous. The Maple Leafs tried to set the tone early which put them in the box twice, late in the first period behind a Joey "The Mute" Hayes roughing call and a Sean "Casanova" Cassavant Interference call that gave the Nordiques the tie breaking power play goal with 2:55 remaining in the first. The Nords Ian "The Stick" Coates registered the goal by banging home a Mikey "Menage a Trois" O'Neil rebound after a slapper from the point. The Nordiques got back on the board exactly a minute and a half later when "The Dentist Drill" started spinning and put home a pass from Greg "The Canadian Axe Murderer" Marsh. The Maple Leafs were able to break through on Turner with a dismal 32 seconds to go on an Eric Gattie goal, assisted by Todd "The Rat" Nallette & Dougie "Light Weight" Heavisides.

Be ready to sweat, work hard, and not be fully recuperated for your next shift against the Leafs - the hardest working team in the 5-year history of the UVHL. The Nords had better bring their A-game, or they'll be scrimmaging until the Mud League starts... GO NORDS! Yaaaaaahhh!

The Nords pulled one out of their ass since only 8 players and JT showed up on a snowy night to battle the Leafs with 11 skaters and LeLallier. It was 3-3 going into the 3rd period, and somehow the Nords pulled it off with, as a so called 'friend' of JT, said post-game that 'JT's C-game' was in full effect. HUH? No fuckin' way! It was an A-game from JT, no doubt about it! Turner made a retarded save on the Leafs' first shot on goal, and he nabbed several pucks out of the air, and played solid, composed, and brilliant. LeLallier was equally as impressive in net for the Leafs and it was a goalie's duel. Nords WIN 5-3. Both squads were without important players tonight, but it was equally affecting both teams, and it was a great hockey game. The Leafs have tons of heart. See you on the ice, eh!
