| ODDS: | Brewers by 1 goal |
| OVER/UNDER: | 9.5 goals |
What a game....what a game. This one is for ALL.....oh no, some of the marbles. Well, it is for the 3rd seed in the esteemed UVHL playoffs. Winner takes on the Leafs in next weeks first round of the playoffs. The Nordiques come into tonight's action boasting a 9-8 record while the Brewers are 8-7-2. Essentially tied in terms of winning percentage & points, yet the Nordiques do hold the slight advantage in the win column, but either way, the winner takes 3rd place.
You couldn't ask for a better end to the regular season. The Nordiques, after a strong first half of the season, are coming off of back-to-back-to-back losses and are trying to right their ship heading into the playoffs. The Brewers, also starting the season on a high note, have been extremely inconsistent since week 5 when they were 4-0-1, and since going 3-7-1.
On a high note for the Brewers, they found some magic and heart and threw down an absolute ASS-WHOOPING on the Bruins behind a 7 point night from Nick "By passing, you mean shooting the puck really hard at the net?" Bayley as they rolled to an 11-3 win. Even without co-captains Mike "The Spike" Hickey and Sean "By 'Shoot', you mean carry the puck into the offensive zone and lose it?" McCabe to rev their engines last week, the Brewers dominated every aspect of that game.
The Nordiques on the other hand are coming off of an embarrassing 12-4 loss to the overpowering Storm Kings where they didn't have an answer for Robbie Barker (5 goals & 2 assits). The Nords left goaltender Johnny "Tubby" Turner out to dry more times than a fat lady's underwear after nachos & chilli.
Can the Nordiques get out of this slump? Are the Brewers for Real? You'll just have to see tonight......same UVHL time, same UVHL channel.
My prediction.....unfortunately for my NORDS.....Brewers 5, Nordiques 4
Turner shines to out-duel the Brew Crew for the 3rd seed.

In a game where some abnormalities occurred, mainly the Brewers top dogs Nick "Dr. McSelfish" Bayley & Christian "Tunnel Vision" Isaac being held without a point. Another anomaly was that the Brewers shut their yaps and didn't bitch and complain all game like they usually do, which made for a fast paced, high tempo fun game. This was a battle of two evenly skilled teams, both anchored by stellar goaltending and superb defense. The Brewers netminder Petey "Red Light" Bartline was back to his old self as he let up only 2 on 21 shots before succumbing in the shootout. The Nordiques John "Back Fat" Turner, relied on the extra rolls to keep 27 of 29 shots out of the netting before turning away 2 of 3 in the shoototout for his 10th victory of the season.
The Brewers entered the ice surface tonight riding a high as one of their defensive gems, Joey "Lickity Splitz" Lyle returned from the M.J.L.I.8.N.T.R.H.L which went under, leaving hundreds of hockey players homeless and returning to their men's leagues. Lyle was an all-star in the M.J.L.I.8.N.T.R.H.L. this season before returning to the Brewers and setting the night on fire both a regulation and shootout goal.
The Brewers captain Mike Hickey was quoted at the post-game press conference as saying "Tonight we were good, the Nordiques were just better........They were who we THOUGHT THEY WERE, WE GAVE THEM THE FUCKING GAME AND I BLAME IT ALL ON NICK "THE STICK" BAYLEY." Bayley retorted, "I am who I thought I was, I like long walks on the beach with Isaac."
The Nordiques, with gimp defenseman Kelly "Has a Gir's Name" Park behind the bench, took control of the game off the faceoff dot and running the top line of the Brewers off the ice in shame. The battle continued as the Nordiques outshot the Brew Crew in the first period 8-4. The Nordiques captain Tao "The Infiltrator" Smith was overhear discussing strategy in between shifts, saying something about "grabbing their asses in the corner." I'm not quite sure why, but it seemed to get him some open ice in the 3rd period.
The flow of the game was fast, the transitions were effortless, but they resulted in little until Mikey "Menage A Trois" O'Neil took a great pass from Smith in the high slot and fired a snapper through a screen that ricocheted off of a Brewers defenseman iand into the net to put his team up with ONLY 8 seconds to go in the first.
END OF THE FIRST: Nordiques 1, Brewers 0
SAVES: Turner(Nords) 4, Bartline(Brewers) 8
The Brewers came out flying in the second period and capitalized at 13:09 whenl Joey Lyle took a breakaway pass off the near boards that took a funny bounce over Nordiques' forward, Mikey "They Guy" O"Neil's stick. Lyle rushed in all alone and threw a quick shot up over the glove of Turner from the hashmarks to tie the game at 1.

 | Nords win as predicted...by ME! Feb 21st, 2008 09:49 PM
The Nords emerged victorious, as I anticipated (see above), but it was a great game and it went to a shootout. Turner was retaaaaaded yet again, and the Nords shook off the cobwebs after sucking for about three weeks in a row. See more in the Forum, eh. McDefense, OUT! | |
