| ODDS: | Tuck by 5 goals |
| OVER/UNDER: | 9.5 |
First vs. the Worst........or is it David vs. Goliath? All I know is that when the Tuckeroonies(12-3-1) face off against the last place Maple Leafs(3-12-1) you never know what the outcome will be. The Maple Leafs have managed to get 2 of their 3 wins this season against Tuck, inversely, giving Tuck 2 of their 3 losses this season as well. The last outing between these two contradistinctive teams ended in a 7-2 ass whooping win by the Maple Leafs. The Leaf's Kenny "MVP" Lallier was spectacular, turning away 30 shots en route to the win, while all 8 lines of the Leafs chipped in to finish off a very talented Tuck team.
The Leafs are led by captain "Shorty" Sean Casavant, Johnny "Trigger" Thomas & Joey "The Mute" Hayes for both their scoring and leadership, but they have a full team of hard working smurfs that tend to wear teams down. Their conditioning has been excellent, in contrast to the beginning of the year where they would play strong, generally leading through the first 2 periods and then collapse in the 3rd.
Tuck is made up of a strong core, anchored by stud Scotty "Toe-Drag" Turco, Michelle "The Hook" Labbe, Petey "The Pumpkin Eater" Hanbury, Ryan "Booger" Burkhart, Brian "The Devil" Fleming, Ryan "The Knee Breaker" McGovern, Ben "F" Kennedy, Ryan "Floppy" Fitzgerald, Adam "Mudslide" Mantin, Takashi "Tacos" Mikoshiba, Jamie "Green Thumb" Greenthal and Trevor "The Martian" Martin. Sorry if I left anyone out, but that is all the energy I had for my terribly cheesy nicknames!
Can the Maple Leafs take 3 out of 4 on the season? I certainly don't think so, but I haven't picked them to win one against Tuck yet, and they're 2 for 3, so I'm going to stay consistent and hope that the Leafs can pull one out......because I LOVE to see Tuck lose.
My Prediction: Tuck by 5 goals, 7-2
Tuck gets 4 in the first and hang on to beat Leafs 6-4.

Tuck came out firing, tallying the first 4 shots of the game. Lallier made a huge two pad stack sve as he had to travel all the way across the net to stop Martin on an open netter with just over 12 minutes to go. Mike Adair was able to put Tuck up at 11:50 as he was stationed in the low slot and hammered home a one-timer from Lindeman.
Tuck's Ben "F" Kennedy snuck a wrister in the short side glove on Lallier to make it 2-0 at 11:21 for his 4th goal of the year. Tuck continued to POUND away at a Leafs squad that seemed uncharacteristically slow in the first period. Petey "Speed Racer" Hanbury beat Lallier high glove as he curled around the net from the far corner to put his team up 3-0 early at 10:17.
The Maple Leafs did manage a couple of scoring opportunities, forcing Ryan "The Flailing Irishman" Fitzgerald to stuff Dave "The Dirty Prison Guard" Fitts on a breakaway by throwing out his right pad on the move with 9:42 remaining. It wasn't Lallier's night as he got beat by a Pace "Car" Ralli slapper through the arm pit, blocker side to go down 4-0 on the 15th shot of the night in under 7 minutes.
The remainder of the period was fruitless, as the only high note was that the Leafs Sean Cassavant seemed to have shrunk since the start of the game. Instead of looking like a 13 year old girl out there, he was starting to look like an 8 year old post-op tranny.
END OF THE FIRST: Tuck 4, Maple Leafs 0
SAVES: Fitzgerald(Tuck) 3, Lallier(Maple Leafs) 16
The Maple Leafs had a serious team meeting in between periods to discuss the lack of heart in the first and came to the conclusion that Johnny Thomas' pre-pubecent goatee was having a negative effect on their team. They agreed to not look at him, which seemed to straighten out quite a few ticks. Tuck continued to move the puck well behind the poise of veterans Hanbury & Michelle "The Hook" Labbe. The Leafs finally broke through almost halfway through the game on a nice play by Johnny "Little Boy" Thomas. Thomas had a one on one battle with Hanbury just inside Tuck's zone, and was able to push the puck through him to a streaking Chris "Google" Gogan. Fitzgerald saw the pass was too far ahead and came out aggressively, but wasn't able to get down in time to stop Gogan's quick tip past him along the ice. Trevor "Martian" Martin recanted the Leafs goal under a minute later with an unassisted goal off the blocker side pad and in to put the Tuckies back on top by 4 with 6:21 to go.
Dave Fitts sent a cherry picking Joey "The Mute" Hayes in on a breakaway just over a minute later with a quick wrister 5-HOLIO on Fitzgerald from 10 feet out to bring the Leafs back within 3 goals. Hayes, who was playing with a sprained ankle waws looking a bit slower than normal, but receiving the puck generally makes you forget about those injuries and gave him enough power to escape the ensuing back check.
The two teams battled back and forth for the remainder of the period without a goal, penalty or tear shed.
END OF THE SECOND: Tuck 5, Maple Leafs 2
SAVES: Fitzgerald(Tuck) 7, Lallier(Leafs) 23
With Trevor Martin in the box for tripping, Dave "Flippin'" Fitts fired a SKUD MISSLE from the far boards just inside the near post to bring the Leafs within 2 at 9:46. The Leafs were flying and seemed to be taking advantage of the fact that Tuck was short handed with only 18 guys on their bench and scored their 4th just 22 seconds later on another rocket from the point on Kirt Johnson's 2nd of the year. Tuck countered on the power play just 21 seconds later when Lindeman snuck one past Lallier inside the near post to put the Tuckies back up by 2 with 9:03 to play in the game.

 | Kelly's vocabulary is growing! Feb 12th, 2008 09:53 PM
Wow. I never thought "contradistinctive" was a word before. Kelly has been going to night school at the local community college to help his writing style and expand his vocabulary. Nice job, Park! Don't feel that using big words for the hockey readers is contraindicated, because we're wicked smaaaaat! |
