Storm Kings hammer Tuck 14-5 on 10/11

Ouch. That's about all I can say about this loss for Tuck. After getting used to winning all last season Tuck captain Matt Waterbury and the other handfull of returning Tuck players had to be stinging after this loss. After a close first period that saw Tuck maintain a 1-0 lead until 48 seconds left, and then another Tuck lead 2-1 early in the second, the Storm Kings went on an 8 goal second period tear and never looked back. There are too many goals to go ovet in the article, so I respectfully ask the readers to go to the boxscore below. Something clicked in the Storm Kings 5 minutes into the second and they scored 4 goals in 49 seconds turning the game into pond hockey on a Sunday afternoon. Without Meg Becker in the net it may have been 20 goals for the Kings, and Tuck worked hard to defend her in the net as best they could, but this season's elite team just kept coming. An unfortunate incident in the second saw two players receive major penalties and automatic game misconducts for next week due to USA Hockey regulations. Tuck used big defenseman Jami James from the Avs to fill a hole on D, and he made a sweet move to beat two Kings as James split them at his own blueline and headed towards the middle of the ice when Kings winger Dean Cashman's stick came up and clipped James on the mouth and drew blood at 8:40 of the second. The refs' arm went up, and James grabbed his mouth and headed across the blueline to survey the damage (luckily it was minor, no chicklets were lost and no stitches were needed), but James turned around and threw his stick with one hand in the general direction of the foul making his large stick fly like a boomerang barely missing 3 players and eventually clipping teammate Gary Hunter's back on its way down. Make that two to go, please, and each box was full, at least momentarily until Tony Gove sent each player home after consulting with Gary Laperle on the calls. The moral of the story is to control your stick at all times (and don't throw it like a boomerang either!). There were no more penalties after this incident for the rest of the game, just goals, goals and more goals, for both teams (see below).
