Gamblers @ Whalers
| ODDS: | Gamblers By 3 Goals |
| OVER/UNDER: | 11 Goals |
In two previous games this season the Gamblers have handily downed the Whalers 7-4 and 10-5. There is a theory floating around the Upper Valley about the Whaler's goaltender Kenny Lallier and his state of mind on Tuesday nights. If Kenny plays well on Sunday night, he will be horseshit on Tuesday. If he plays poorly on Sunday night, he'll be excellent on Tuesday night. Well...this Sunday he was excellent, especially against the Gambler's Willy Meyer. So this Tuesday he should suck.
The Whaler's own the top offensive threat in the UVHL this season with Joe Gaudet and his gaudy 4 points per game(32 points in 8 games). Gaudet's linemates Scotty Shaw(9-9-18 in 8 games) and Jay "The Zamboni" Zanleoni(8-7-15 in 10 games) have also had strong seasons as well.
The Gamblers have 8 players in the top 30 of scoring, including 4 in the top 10. They are dangerous and potent. Willy "Weeble" Meyer(9-13-22) and Matty "The Milkman" Marrazzo(12-9-21).
Both teams are coming off of tough losses, the Gamblers to the Nordiques(3-2) and the Whalers had a huge lead over Cardigan before losing that game in a shootout. The Gamblers have owned the Whalers this year and should take this one pretty easily...8-4.
Gamblers Score 9 to Topple Whalers
The Gamblers and Whalers played another great game, but the Gambler\'s depth was too much for the Whalers. A high scoring affair that saw the Gambler\'s jump out to a quick 4-1 lead only to have the Whalers bounce back with a pair of goals, followed by a trio of goals from the Gamblers, another pair of goals by the Whalers to for a 7-5 Gambler\'s lead early in the third period. The Gamblers added a pair of late goals to seal the victory and the Whale looked exhausted. That Gambler\'s offense is insane and deep as they used 7 different goal scorers on the night.
The low point of the night was the loss of Will Meyer to concussion due to an illegal hit from the Whaler\'s Jay Zanleoni behind the play. Zanleoni received a suspension to injury for the play and only time will tell when Meyer...and Zanleoni are back on the ice.
GMB 1-0 - Nick \"McStick\" MacDonald beats Lallier with a snapshot from the point, no screen, nothing. Beat him just over the pad glove side....pathetic Kenny...pathetic.
\"Thing 2\" LaCroix rings the crossbar on Lallier with a lazer of a slapshot and 4:27 left in the first period.
Dan \"The Danimal\" Ammel gets sent in all alone from center ice with 2:52 to play in the first. Makes a nice move on Lallier who tracked him pretty well but Ammel had him beat and threw the puck across the crease hitting the far post and traversing the goal line...no goal.
WHL 1-1 - Beautiful tick-tack-toe play from center ice. Gaudet gets the puck on the faceoff dot at center ice and dishes a nifty backhand pass to Shaw streaking down the near boards. Shaw then lofted a pass to Redpath cutting to the back door. Redpath made a nice move at full speed on Van Schoik, pulling the puck to his backhand and sliding it past the Gambler\'s net protector.
SECOND PERIOD:
GMB 2-1 - Marrazzo gets the puck from Meyer and collects his own rebound behind the net and proceeds to throw the puck out front, banking off of Lallier\'s glove and in the net. Did Marrazzo actually try to bank the shot off of Lallier or was it just an errant pass that had eyes.
GMB 3-1 - Allison \"The Hook\" Malcolm makes a nice drop pass to \"Thing 1\" LaCroix who turns his back to the net to protect the puck and leaves it for his brother, \"Thing 2\", in the high slot. \"Thing 2\" then buried a snapper high glove on Lallier.
GMB 4-1 - \"Thing 2\" LaCroix throws the puck out of his own zone after an extended Whaler\'s pressure and his brother \"Thing 1\" LaCroix turned on the jets beating both Whaler\'s defenseman to the puck, cut in on Lallier from the right to left and threw the puck back across the grain over Lallier\'s pad.
WHL 4-2 - Power Play goal with Ryan \"The Boogieman\" Bergeron in the box for high sticking. Redpath knocks a puck out of traffic in the high slot to Gaudet down near the goal line. Gaudet does a shimmy shake on a Gambler Defenseman, pulls the puck below the goal line and then backhand feeds Dillon \"The Dangler\" Pierce backdoor for the goal.
WHL 4-3 - Van Schoik makes an EXCELLENT left pad save on Jay \"The Zamboni\" Zanleoni only to see Pierce jam home the rebound 5-holio...we\'ve got a game now people.
NOTE: It\'s been ALL WHALERS since the Gamblers went up 4-1.
NOTE: With 5:29 to play in the second, the Gambler\'s Ryan \"The Boogieman\" Bergeron picks up a puck at his own blueline and darts into the Whaler\'s zone...unleashing hell on Kenny Lallier with a slapshot that went about 10 feet wide.
GMB 5-3 - Ammel gets a semi-breakaway and mis-fires a high snapper that beat Lallier 5-hole. At least this report thought it looked like a mis-fire.
GMB 6-3 - Gattie jams home a rebound after one of his team mates lugged the puck into the zone and crashed the net. Lallier made the first save, but the puck was just sitting there.

I hope Will is ok. It's never fun to see someone leave mid-game with an injury. |
