Does anyone care if I do these anymore? We barely get any feedback, game comments, or trash talk...it feels like I am wasting my time. If I'm not, then send us some shit for fuck's sake!!!
The Gamblers have an opportunity to make UVHL history with a win or a tie. Back in the inaugural season UVHL Red, the pre-cursor to the modern resurrection of the Storm Kings, started the season 11-0-1 and went undefeated until the finals losing in a shootout. The Gamblers will have the best start to a UVHL season if they go 12-0-1. Methinks they will do it...but they'll still be cranky even when they are winning. The Whalers can beat anyone on any given night, but they just haven't. Is tonight the night the Whalers turn spoiler once again? Gamblers by 3.
Whalers lose 3-1 lead late in the 3rd, Lallier is perfect in shootout win.
My initial thoughts on this game are such that the Whalers once again had the Gamblers on the ropes, and the Gamblers showed their mettle and came back to remain undefeated in regulation. This was a good game from start to finish, and the Whalers started strong and kept going playing a full 45 minute game right until the end. The Gamblers started slower, but picked it up enough to come back down 3-1 and score with LESS THAN ONE SECOND on the clock to force a shootout!
The Gamblers are now 12-0-2, a UVHL record for the first 13 games, eclipsing UVHL Red from Season One who went 11-1-1 to finish the inaugural tilt losing in a shootout after a scoreless 5 minute OT in the Whalen Cup FInal. This is very impressive, especially considering my Mud League team from about 9 years ago, the infamous McDermott Chiropractic squad, went 0-13 one spring at Campion. Polar opposites, that is for sure...and proof that I"m a shitty GM.
LeLallier was spectacular in the shootout stopping all 3 Gamblers attempts. Kenny let in 3 a few weeks ago in a shootout, so he definitely made up for it! Scott Shaw got the lone shootout goal, and scored a beauty over Feisen's glove with a very quick shot.
There was less bitching and whining this game, and the players were well behaved. It is appreciated more than you know...
The Whalers forecheck helped neutralize many Gamblers breakouts, and the Whaler D got tp pucks more quickly than usual. The only big mistake was by Whalers solid D Kirt Johnson who forced a pass out front only to get picked off for a quick Gamblers goal.

please explain
if the game was a shootout and the only goal scored was against the Gamblers, didn't the Whalers win?

Fixed. I think I had a mental block about the Whalers actually winning a game in a shootout, not to mention against the Gamblers.
I picked the Gamblers to win this one too....UGH. My Pick 'em percentage is dropping every week.
