Cardigan surprised the UVHL and Whalers in week one with an 8-5 blowout of the reigning Whalen Cup Champions. The Whalers looked flat and Cardigan looked like an offensive juggernaut. Things have changed drastically in just over a month. The Whale started the season off 0-2-0 but have since rattled off three straight wins, including a 7-5 barn burner over Tuck and a solid 5-3 beat down of the Nordiques. Cardigan, on the other hand, started out 2-0-0, but have since lost three straight games. With the loss of their captain / manager Ryan "The Kitchen" Sinclair to a knee injury, they have struggled in all zones. Sinclair racked up 14 points in just over 3 games in his UVHL return, and that fucking hurts to loose that type of offense and puck control. Cardigan has still got a collection of quality hockey veterans to be dangerous, but the Whaler's have improved week to week and there looks to be no stopping "Jumbo" Joe Gaudet who has also racked up 14 points in just 4 games this season. This one will see some scoring, 6-5 Whalers.

Whalers netted a few early on and despite the skater advantage managed to just hold on rather than extend. Ken had a great night, and big Joe was strong at both ends. Good play all around -- especially a potential game changing backhand goal by the lone female Cardigan player late in the third. No post game activities to report. KJ
