In this game we see third place Ramuntos battle forth place Nordiques. Ramuntos started out hot and won three games, then they lost two games before last weeks shoot out win over the Whalers. Ramuntos is led by Justin Lawrence, Mathew Littler and Terence Moran offensively, meanwhile Matt Albertazzi has been good in net and provide key saves when they were need.
The Nordiques come into this week after a tough shoot out loss to the Lumberjacks as they battled back and forth vs one of the top teams in the league. The Nords are lead by James Solon (second in points in the league with 14) and Pierce Mayhew offensively.
Ramuntos is in a bit of funk and this will be a good test to see if they can come out of it against a good Nordiques team that seems to be getting better each week. This week we the Nordiques raise to the occasion and win this one 4-2.
The second games of the night saw third place Ramuntos battle the fourth place Nordiques. The game started with the Nordiques coming out hard taking it to Ramuntos from the drop of the first faceoff. With the Nords pressuring Ramuntos it was only a matter of time before Ramuntos took a penalty and they did so at 11:38. On the faceoff after the penalty Stu Grande won the puck back to Ryan McGovern, who collected the puck and let a shot fly that ended up beating Matt Albertazzi just 5 seconds in to the power play. The Nords kept the pressure on and Ramunto\"s couldn\"t get anything going as they kept having to ice the puck to relieve the pressure. The Nords got their second goal at 5:37 when Roger Phillips banged home the rebound off of a James Solon shot. The Nords scored again when Kelly Park stopped a Ramunto\"s clearing attempt and let a shot go from the point that beat Tazzi with 1:13 left in the period. The Nords didn\"t stop there and scored with 34 seconds left when Billy Sailer put home a rebound after Pierce Mayhew let a slapper go from the point. The score after one is 4-0 Nords.
In between the first and second period there was some yelling on the Ramuntos bench that got them fired up for the second period. It worked as they came out pressuring the Nords and peppering JT but he was solid tonight. After about two minutes of Ramuntos pressuring hard, the Nord\"s Poli Nightinggale beat a Ramuntos defenseman to a loose puck in his defensive end and fired a shot short side high to be Tazzi. Ramuntos continued to work hard even after giving up the fifth goal but JT was there making save after save. The Nords Greg Marsh got the games next goal at 9:04 when he banged home a rebound off a Ryan McGovern shot. Just 30 seconds later the Nords scored again, this time it was from Jamie Solon who skated in and roofed the puck past Tazzi high glove side. The Nords didn\"t stop there and their next goal came at 5:39 when Poli Nightinggale was able to pick off a Tazzi passing attempt as he came out of the goal to move the puck up to his winger. Poli attempted a wrap around on what was a wide open goal, but as Tazzi and his defenseman raced towards the goal Poli let the shot go that hit the defenseman\"s skates and past a sprawling Tazzi to put the Nords up 8-0. The Nords added another goal with just eight seconds left in the period from Solon and to put them up 9-0.
The third period wasn\"t as high scoring as the first two periods as the Nords took the foot off the gas pedal.. The Nords got third period goals from Pierce, Marshy and Billy Sailer as they went on to win this game 12-0. Although the Nords won big, it should be noted that JT was solid in net as he recorded a 33 save shut out.
