Ding, Ding, Ding. Round 4, Gamblers @ Tuck.
| ODDS: | Tuck By 1 Goal |
| OVER/UNDER: | 7 Goals |
Tuck has taken two of the first three matches against the Gamblers. The most impressive single player's effort this season came when Tuck's Mike Devine shut out the Gamblers 5 weeks ago. Devine's 46 save performance was downright spectacular against a very deep and talented hockey team.
The Gamblers rebounded from the loss very nicely with 4 straight wins, scoring at least 7 goals in each match. They have a league leading 40 Goal Differential, scoring a hefty 98 goals and only allowing 58 in the process. Tuck's GD is almost as impressive at 34 while only scoring 79 goals this season but allowing a league low 45 behind the stellar netminding of Mike "Wine & Dine" Devine. Devine and the Gambler's Ryan Van Schoik are 1&2 in Wins, GAA and GA but Devine leads all net protectors with 4 PIMs!!!!
Offensively, the Gamblers are the deepest team in the UVHL with 8 players in the top 30 in scoring and 4 players in the top 10. Tuck has 5 players in the top 30 but only Brandon "The Harry One" Harrington in the top 10.
The Gamblers will be without their fearless leader Willliam Meyer yet again. This will mark the 6th week he's been out after suffering a concussion in a game against the Whalers. This one should be relatively low scoring, but those goals will all be beautiful. Solid goaltending and defensive play will dominate the game.
Tuck should win this game...4-3, but that is dependent upon whether or not Tuck's Brandon Harrington is in the building. Tuck handled the Nordiques last week 5-1 without Harrington, but the Gamblers are a different animal.
Gamblers Shock Tuck 6-3
The Gamblers have cast aside any doubts that they are a serious contender with their latest victory, a 6-3 win over top ranked Tuck. After starting last season 22-0-0, the Gamblers lost their last regular season game and then the Whalen Cup Final. They then started this season with an 8-5-0 record, putting them at 9-7-0 in their last 16 games. Since that time, the Gamblers have won their last 5 games and reestablished their dominance, putting themselves back atop the UVHL with a 13-4-0-1 record.
Tuck was holding that top spot at 13-3-1-0 as they\'ve walked through almost every team this season. Tuck was without Brandon \"The Harry One\" Harrington tonight who definitely would have had a positive impact for Tuck in this match. Tuck has been the stingiest team when allowing goals this season, due to their goaltender Mike \"Wine & Dine\" Devine. Tuck\'s 45 goals allowed in 17 games is amazing, thanks to Devine, but their 79 goals in that same span is 3rd from last.
Even without Harrington, Tuck was still able to put on a good show, but Devine was responsible for making 40 saves. After two periods we sat in a 2-2 tie and it wasn\'t until the 12 minute mark that the Gamblers finally broke through and on a Marc \"The Narc\" Gattie goal from Matty \"The Milkman\" Marrazzo.
Marrazzo opened the scoring mid-way through the first from Dan \"The Danimal\" Ammel and Gattie, and Topo \"Thing 1\" LaCroix made it 2-0. Tuck came out flat and paid for it, but they righted their ship early in the second period with goals from Eric \"The Rat\" Rautiola and \"Mad\" Max Pinto less than 2 minutes apart to start the second period. Goose \"Thing 2\" LaCroix broke the tie just under two minutes later from Nick \"Big Mac\" MacDonald with 9:45 to play only to see Michael White even things out from Sam Pond three minutes later.
Gattie\'s tie-breaker was followed by goals from both LaCroix brothers and the game was in the books. The Gamblers are too deep for Tuck, especially when they are missing Harrington\'s 23 goals and the veteran presence of Kevin McCafferty.
