Gamblers Look For Redemption Against Nordiques
| ODDS: | EVEN |
| OVER/UNDER: | 4 Goals |
The Nordiques have, surprisingly, taken 2 of 3 on this season from the Gamblers and have been the underdogs going into every game. Tonight they are not the underdogs, but are not the favorites either.
A total of 15 goals have been scored in the season series including a 2-1 Gambler win in November that saw the Nordiques stymie the Gamblers for 2 periods before the Gamblers tied the game 1-1 on a questionable penalty shot followed by the game winning goal in the last minute of play.
Tonight the Gamblers will be without Willy "Mighty Mouse" Meyer for the 4th straight week since being concussed against the Whalers and his loss has been greatly missed on the ice and in the locker room.
The Nordiques have had an up and down season, sitting 3rd in the UVie with a 9-6-0 record. They boast a 18 goal differential with 69 Goals Scored and 51 Goals Allowed. The Gamblers sit 2nd in the UVHL with a ridiculous 34 Goal Differential with an 84/50 goals for/against ratio.
The Gambler's success has been driven by the emerging superstars Ryan "Thing 2" LaCroix(32pts in 13gp) and Topo "Thing 1" LaCroix(26pts in 15gp). The LaCroix boys have taken the team on their shoulder scoring key goals when needed. The Gamblers boast 7 players in double-digit points and 4 players with double digit goals.
The Nordiques success has been driven by the heroics of Johnny "Temper Tantrum" Turner who's reemergence as UVHL-Vezina candidate has been key. The Nordiques only have 5 players in double digit points with only 2 players scoring more than 9 goals.
Both goaltenders are outstanding and the defense on both teams is solid...so on paper this game should be an easy win for the Gamblers...but the equalizing factor is the Nordique's defense first mentality which has allowed them to compete with teams like the Gamblers.
This will be a 2-2 or 3-3 game heading to a shootout.
