Nordiques shock Gamblers again, 3-2.

The Gamblers & Nordiques have had some of the best games of the current UVHL season. In week 1, the Nordiques shocked the Gamblers with a 4-3 stunner. 5 weeks later they took a 1-0 gem into the third period before a bogus penalty shot call tied the game and the Gamblers scored in the last minute of play for the win. Tonight the Nordiques did it again, shutting down the high-powered Gamblers in a 3-2 win. There was a common thread in all of these games, Johnny \"Temper Tantrum\" Turner, the Nordique\'s all-star caliber goaltender who may have just played the finest game of his UVHL career, if not his life. Turner let in an early goal in the first 30 seconds but then put aside at least 50 shots in the win. The Gambler\'s goaltender Ryan Van Schoik was good in his own right allowing just three goals on over 30 shots, and all three goals coming after he made a save or two. The goal recaps are below: Gamblers get on the board first, Ammel makes a nice drop pass to Meyer as he broke into the Nordique\'s zone and cut across the tops of the circles. Meyer picked up the pass with speed and fired a quick snapper from just inside the far faceoff circle that beat Turner 5-hole. Only 26 seconds into the game and a goal that Turner wanted back for sure. It seemed as though that goal was going to open a veritable flood gate of goals for the Gamblers, but the Nordiques immediately went into shut down mode. Nordiques tie the game halfway through the second period on a great individual play by Jordy McGee who cut hard to the net with the puck. Van Schoik made the save and was down and out when Poli Nightengale came in to clean up the garbage in front. Van Schoik flashed his his stick in desperation and made an AMAZING save on Nightengale\'s ridiculously weak shot. McGee was there to jam it home. Nordiques go ahead on a similar play as the last Nordique goal, where Mayhew fed McGee who cut to the net hard. Van Schoik was down and out and Nightengale, this time, buried the rebound inside the far post from just outside the crease. McGee factored into the Nordique\'s last goal as well as he went in all along on a breakaway, Van Schoik made the save and the puck flew over the net to the end boards. McGee picked up the rebound, fought off a Gambler defenseman and wrapped the puck into the net from behind the goal line. The Gamblers were ALL over the Nordiques in the last 2 minutes of play, desperate to get a pair of goals to tie the game. The Nordiques iced the puck 4 times in the last 120 seconds of play. Willy Meyer finally broke through with 6 seconds left, jamming home a Marrazzo pass 5-hole on Turner, but it was too little too late. It was too little too late and the hero was Turner yet again. The Nordiques are now 2-1-0 against the Gamblers this season, without Turner that is a completely different outlook.
