The Whalers(1-2-0) take on the undefeated Tuckies(3-0-0) in some highly anticipated week 3 action. Tuck is the top ranked team in the UVHL right now, beating down the Nordiques in Week 2, and then taking down the power-house Gamblers 3-2 in a shootout last week. The Whalers Cup hangover is still weighing them down a bit. Rumor has it that the team has collectively gained 2,400 lbs since raising the Whalen Cup, and netminder Kenny "LaArthritis" LaLallier's senility has gotten much worse due to cleaning chemicals that were in the Whalen Cup when he drank Pepto bismol out of it post championship game. Tuck has been rejuvenated by a solid flock of rookies. Their continual youth movement has been a benefit this year, especially with the addition of netminder Mike Devine who has been outstanding. The only drawback to Tuck's game is their questionable defense, and that's only because their roster doesn't actually list a natural defenseman on their squad. That being said, their aggressive style, backed up by Devine between the pipes hasn't exactly hurt their game...Tuck is second in Goals Scored and First in Goals Allowed. Tuck will overwhelm the Whalers, 7-3. Brandon "Big Harry" Harrington will have 5 goals.

Coming into this game, the undefeated Tuckerdoodles(3-0-0) were a four goal favorite over the underperforming Whalen Cup Champion Whalers(1-2-0). Tuck looked unstoppable after downing Dead River, the Nordiques and then the Gamblers. The Whalers looked almost complacent, as if they were really happy with their Whalen Cup Hangover. Boy was I wrong when I set the odds for this game. The Whalers came to play, frustrating the Tuckies and putting up 6 goals plus an empty netter on the usually-stellar Mike \"Fine\" Devine. Here\'s some game notes for ya\'ll

TCK: 1-0 - Stern-Plaza chips a rebound up and over LaLallierLa

WHL: 1-1 - Breakaway, shot off post glove side and in

WHL: 2-1 - Two on One Gaudet & Ryerson. Ryerson feeds Gaudet coming into the zone, defenseman slides and Gaudet just out-waits him, stretches around his extended feet and hits Ry erson crashing the far post. NASTY GOAL

NOTE: Lallier has been Nasty in the first, huge saves

END OF THE FIRST: Whalers 2, Tuck 1. Lallier(WHL) 9 Saves, Devine(TCK) 9 Saves

TCK: 2-2 - Mush gets a feed back door.

WHL: 3-2 - Something happened at the near post, missed it but it sounded awesome.

NOTE: Devine ROBS Scotty Shaw on the near post, down and out, stabs it with his glove.

TCK: 3-3 - Debated call, Harrington down far boards on his off wing, takes a slapper from the tops of the far faceoff circle, off the far post, back off LaLallier\'s fat ass, into the net and back out.

NOTE: 8:11 - Devine makes a blocker save on Pierce who broke in all alone off a great pass from Gaudet

TCK: 4-3 - Sloppy play by the Whalers as Chucky Gaede made an errant pass up the middle to nobody. Peter Mellencamp picked up the puck at his own blueline, split the defense and beat Lallier with a great move to his backhand. SAVE...thought it was a goal

NOTE: 5:47 Kick save on a beaut by Devine as Sam Pond turned the puck over in his own slot to Gaudet who fired a wicked wrister labeled for the far post.

NOTE: This game is getting physical, seems like guys are starting to finish checks

WHL: 4-3 - Backdoor pass

TCK: 4-4 - Harrington down near boards, shoots 5-hole, Kenny makes save to far boards. Harrington turns net, gets his own rebound and fires a laser to Nowak on the far post. Lallier slides across but Nowak roors it. Gorgeous.

NOTE: Whalers get a PP with 10:28 to play, use their timeout. Devine makes two outstanding saves early in the penalty kill. Kick save on a blast from the point and then a two pad stack with Scotty Shaw cutting to the net.

WHL: 5-4 (PP) - Gaudet gets a pass from Redpath in the slot

WHL: 6-4 - Zanleoni cleans up a rebound right on the near post, chips it up over an outstretched Devine.

NOTE: 4 minutes left and Tuck is pressing. Lallier comes up big on Wannop and then Harrington cutting hard through the crease.

NOTE: Tuck pulls goalie with 1:10 left

WHL: 7-4 - Scotty \"Sugar\" Shaw empty netter.

TCK: 7-5 - Mental lapse from Kenny, maybe alzheimers. Anyways a botched 1-timer from Wannop, dead center tops of the circles, trickles in on Kenny, he goes down to play it, rolls under him. Bet you a million bucks he wants that one back.
