Whalers Have Their Hands Full with Gamblers

The Whalers host the Gamblers in the middle game of this weeks action. The Gamblers are a respectable 2-1-0 after 3 games and a first week loss to a VERY good, and undefeated Tuck squad. The G-Men have ramped up their scoring, each week outdoing the previous score & goal differential: 4-3 loss, 7-2 win & 12-1 win. They look poised to pressure Tuck for the top spot. The Whalers are....well....the Whalers. They are the hardest working team in ALL of Men's League Hockey. They are aggressive and relentless, and if you can withstand their initial onslaught, they are also out of shape as they tend to fall apart late in the contest. The Gamblers have looked excellent since getting Matty "The Milkman" Marrazzo back in the orange & blue. Marrazzo missed the first week, due to a large delivery of milk. In net, Jered "The Eagle" Condon has posted an impressive league leading 2.33 GAA. The Whalers goaltending has been inconsistent with Kenny "The 'Stache" Lallier alternating the use of his new pads. The new, obnoxiously yellow pads, have made Lallier look a bit uncomfortable at times, but switching back to his old pillows, Lallier was outstanding in a tough 3-2 shootout loss to the Brewers last week. The Whalers always play the G-Men tough, but it still won't be close.....7-2 Gamblers.

Last years scoring champion is back! Matty \"The Milkman\" Marrazzo, after a \"slow\" start opened up the proverbial flood gates tonight against the Whalers. Marrazzo\'s 7 points, 4 goals & 3 assists, were complimented by his linemate Willy \"Weeble Wobble\" Meyer\'s 4 goals & assists. This may be the most lopsided win in UVHL history as the Whalers couldn\'t muster more than a couple of scoring chances and couldn\'t contain the offensive machine that is the Gamblers. The Whale did play tough for the first 5 or 6 minutes until Marrazzo broke down the door, splitting the defense for an unassisted powerplay goal on Kenny \"La Leather\" Lallier. Lallier may have made the worst mistake of his life tonight by wearing his new pads....against the F\'ing Gamblers. REALLY SMART KENNY! Lallier\'s new pads look sharp, but his play hasn\'t quite lived up to the shiny new leather protecting his lower extremities. Topo LaCroix made it 2-1 with 3:47 to play with a quick shot through a screen through Lallier\'s 5-hole. Evan \"Superman\" Seely made it 3-0 on a great individual play as he took Chris \"Googly\" Gogan to the net on a 1 on 1. Gogan peeled off after Lallier made the initial save, but Seely stuck with the rebound and jammed it in on his 2nd try. END OF THE FIRST: Gamblers 3, Whalers ZILCH Willy Meyer broke the game open with a natural hat trick that started early in the 2nd period. The first of his goals came of of a very un-WillyMeyer-like goal. Meyer took a nice drop pass from Marrazzo and let loose a one timer that beat Lallier high stick side. First things first, the UVHL wasn\'t aware that Meyer could lift the puck with a slap shot, secondly, I don\'t think Lallier even saw the blast. Marrazzo added his 2nd of the night with 4:39 to play on a perfect backdoor pass from Meyer to close out the scoring in the 2nd period with a 7-0 lead. END OF THE SECOND: Gamblers 7, Whalers GOOSE EGG The 3rd period was the worst for the Whalers, exhausted and mentally defeated they allowed 5 additional goals to give the Gamblers an even dozen on the night. Meyer added the first with a wraparound on Lallier. Scotty \"Too Hotty\" Fraser added his second goal of the year on a tough angle shot when Lallier was down and out. Marrazzo put two more in the back of the net before LaCroix closed out the embarrassing loss for the Whalers with 1:42 to play from Marc \"The Narc\" Gattie. END OF REGULATION: Gamblers 12, Whalers ZIP It was a rough loss for the Whalers tonight. They have a ton of work to do, starting in their own defensive end. The G-Men ran right through them like a hot knife through water....maybe air. Yes, the Gamblers may be even better than last season, but a twelve-nothing loss is unacceptable. The MMA line was amazing again, putting together 16 points betwen them. Jered \"The Condor\" Condon pulled off the rare and unheard of men\'s league hockey shoutout...congrats Jered!
