In the second game of the night we have the Nords hosting the Whalers. The Nords come into tonight off a 7-2 loss to the Labatt Blues and the Whalers are coming off a 7-1 loss to Tuck. Both teams have struggled this year to produce in the win column but this is one game that either team could win. The Whalers didn"t waste any time getting on the score board as Scotty Shaw put one past Colin Farr 38 seconds into the game. The Nords would settle down and tie the game up at 1-1 at 8:35 mark on a goal from Peter Scalia. The Whalers would grab the lead back with 1:55 left in the period on a goal by Jason Yehle and then 7 seconds later Patrick Riley would put the Whalers up 3-1 heading into the second period. In the second period the score remained 3-1 Whalers thanks to a stellar performance in the net from Colin Farr for the Nords who ended up turning away 17 shots in the middle frame. The Nords would make the score 3-2 on the power play with 3:57 left in the period on a goal from Mike O"Neil. The Whalers Dillan Pierce would have the final say in the period as he would make the score 4-2 Whalers with 1 second left in the period. In the third period the Nords would get a chance on the power play to get back into this game but they were unable to capitalize on the chance. The Nords Christian Machelski would score with 6:13 left in the game to make the score 4-3 but the Whalers would hang on to win the game 4-3. The Whalers fill in goalie Chris Pelkey made 35 saves in the winning effort.
