Tuck Looks To Roll Dead River

OVER/UNDER:	9 Goals

The top team in the UVHL this season are the 4-1-0 Tuckies. They rocked Dead River 8-2 in week 1 and have pretty much rolled everyone since. The only hiccup in their undefeated season, thus far, was a 7-5 loss to the Whalers. Dead River is a team in rebuild mode. After winning the Whalen Cup 2 years ago, they were plagued by a high rate of retiring players, followed by a horrible General Manager(Greg Hadley), and low roster numbers every week. They've finally got a full roster, not to mention some youth to help them to the next level. Their last two games, 7-1 & 8-1 losses to the Nordiques & Gamblers have had numerous high points, where they shut both teams down in the third periods. Slow starts & sloppy play have turned into solid defensive coverage and the foundation of a team image, which they didn't have last year. Are they going to be .500 this year, probably not. But they could surprise a few teams down the road...if, and only if they embrace a defense first mentality, and build from their goal line out. Tuck on the other hand is nasty. Led by Brandon Harringon(10g, 5a in 5gp) and Jeffrey "The Wasp" Wannop on defense(4g, 3a in 5gp). Their goaltending duo of Mike Devine and Josh Gartner is superb, but their weakness may be on defense. Despite the solid offensive numbers from Wannop, he's a natural centerman, and they don't have a registered defenseman on their squad. Tuck will roll, pretty handily. Harrington will have about 5 or 6 goals, this one will be 8-1 or 9-2.

Starting the game as 7 goal underdogs was not the impression the new Dead River squad hoped for by week 6, but their 0-5-0 record is a bit of an indicator to how their season is going. Tuck has been the best team as they\'ve posted a 4-1-0 record. Tonight Tuck was without superstar forward Brandon \"Harry Nuggets\" Harrington who has been tearing apart the UVHL this season.

Dead River was without their stud goaltender Matty \"The Badger\" Crowson who was in Idaho farming potatoes. Their replacement was Johnny \"Temper Tantrum\" Turner.

Tuck showed up with 50 fans....holy shit.

DEAD RIVER 1-0: #21 cleans up some garbage in the crease

TUCK 1-1: A pass from the far boards into the slot, Sam \"Sniper\" Pond roofs it over Turner\'s glove after fighting off a Dead River defender.

TUCK 2-1: A Tuck 2on1 seese Michael White carry the puck in and roof it on Turner again, same spot, over the glove.

NOTE: Johnny Turner channels his inner-Dominik Hasek on a Tuck breakaway with 4:53 to play in the second, as a Tuckie walked in all alone. Turner went down to his knees, onto his belly and then rolled over like a dog playing dead. The Tuckie looked shocked and lost the puck to the backboards.

TUCK 3-1: Another puck thrown on net and Eric \"The Rat\" Rautiola throws home the rebound.

TUCK 4-1: Bad coverage down low and \"Mad\" Max Pinto gets the puck to Sam Pond in front. Turner goes down to cover everything low and Pond Roofs it.

TUCK 5-1: Some more bad coverage down low and Dead River is also out of position, seeing Tuck throw the puck under Turner for a 5-1 lead....oh wait, another quick whistle from the refs and the goal is disallowed. NO GOAL.

TUCK 5-1...this time for real: Nice move by the crafty Peter \"Cougar\" Mellen who used his speed to break in on Turner all alone, quick move to his back hand for the goal.

NOTE: After the game, one Dead River player suggested that Brandon Harrington be nominated as Player Of the Week for Dead River since he did not show up to play. Drastically changing the outcome of this game in favor of Dead River. Even though they didn"t win, with Harrington in the lineup, this would have been a much bigger blowout for Tuck.

After the game, Tuck"s horde of drunken fans sat in the lobby and cheered both teams coming out of the rink, creating a tunnel with their extended hands for all the players to walk under. They cheered like maniacs which was completely amusing...probably not to the Dead River players that had to walk through the raucous tunnel screaming and hooting like barbarians after their first slaughter of the day.
