Winless Gamblers & Brewers Look For Win.

Both the Brewers & Gamblers started off this season with a loss last week. The Brewers were blown out by the Nordiques 10-4, while the Gamblers lost to Tuck with 1:12 to play. The Brew Crew looked downright exhausted by the end of the game, while the G-Men seemed lost with out last season's UVHL Points Leader Matty "The Milkman" Marrazzo, and the Brewers were without goaltender Matty "The Eagle" Crowson The Gamblers will be back in full force as Marrazzo should help create some room for Ammel & Meyer. The Brewers will have Crowson back as well which will help since their goaltender sub last week looked exhausted after his 3rd skate of the day. Gamblers should win this one....6-3.

Brewers Collapse Late......Again! Lose 7-2 to the Gamblers.

Both the Brewers & Gamblers walked into this week\'s action at 0-1-0 after some rough loses in week 1. The Brew Crew were slaughtered by a high powered Nordiques team 10-4 while Tuck squeaked out a 4-3 win over the Gamblers. The Brewers were riding a short bench again while the Gamblers were uncharacteristically deep in their bench. Regardless of the benches, the Brewers played great hockey in the first two periods keeping it close behind a stellar performance from Matty \"The Eagle\" Crowson, as he turned away 30 shots in the loss. At the other end of the ice was Jered \"The Condor\" Condon who wasn\'t quite as busy but was solid turning away 24 or 26 shots and shutting down the Brewers in the final 2 periods. Willy \"Weeble\" Meyer was a game changer in this one, as he scored the go-ahead and the insurance goals on his way to a hat trick. Dan \"Danimal\" Ammel also had a big night with a goal and two assists, and Matty \"The Milkman\" Marrazzo made his season debut with 2 crucial assists.. The Gamblers opened up the first with a beautiful tic-tac-toe lay where Marc \"The Narc\" Gattie made a nice pass from the far point down to Ammel on the near side of the net. Ammel made a quick tap pass to Allison \"Captain Hook\" Malcolm at the top of the crease for the one timer that slid under the sliding Crowson. The Brewers tallied two in the final minutes of play to take the 2-1 lead. The first coming on the power play with Joey \"You\'ve Got the Right Stuff..Baby\" McIntyer in the box for a hook. Rookie Chris \"Dublin\" Dubin brought the puck out of the far corner and hit Aaron \"Man-Cold\" Mancuso at the top of the crease for a quick chip up and over The Condor. Dubin made another excellent play for the next goal as he used his speed to take a nice flip pass at the center ice faceoff dot from Dan \"Super Duper Extra Fatty Cookie Dough Ice Cream\" Charrette. Dubin took the bouncing pass off of his ankle, had to track it down latterally, bobbled it to his backhand and slid it under Condon from a tough angle. END OF THE FIRST: Brew Crew 2, Gamblers 1 The Gamblers opened the ice a bit in the 2nd period, scoring the only two goals. The Danimal tied the game just over 3 minutes in from Mikey Harrington, as he took the pass, curled to the top of the slot and beat Crowson high glove through a screen. Meyer had the best goal of the night, a shorthanded breakaway tally that rolled up and over crowson with 2:59 to play in the period to put the Gamblers up for good. END OF THE SECOND: Brew Crew 2, Gamblers 3 Meyer opened up the scoring in the third period just 51 seconds in. Meyer broke into the zone on a 3 on 1, kept Crowson on his toes as he looked pass and then buried a quick shot inside the post, stick side. The Brewers legs started to fail them, and in return they took 5 consecutive penalties in the next 6 minutes which doomed any chance of a comeback. Scotty \"Too Hotty\" Fraser made it 5-2 on a 5 on 3 with a tip in at 9:44, but the biggest question is why was Fraser, a defenseman, in front of the opposition\'s net? Evan Seeley made it 6-3 with another powerplay goal. \"I just closed my eyes and, said a prayer and threw the puck at the net....only the highly skilled players can do that\" said Seeley of his first career UVHL goal. Meyer closed out the scoring, and completed his hat trick with 51 seconds to play with a quick shot from the high slot, blocker side on Crowson. END OF REGULATION: Brewers 2, Gamblers 7 The Brewers need to work on their conditioning, or add another 12 guys to their bench. Back to back weeks saw a strong start, followed by a collapse. The Gamblers seem poised to go on a good run. They are always a favorite week in and week out, despite their opening loss.
