A Penalty Shot Decides another close game as the Gamblers edge the Nordique

The action was all Gamblers in the first as they outshot the Nords 12 to 5. Both goalies were solid and it seemed like this was going to be a one goal game. In the end it was though the first was not indicative of the combined 9 goals in the second. Marrazzo opened the scoring as he crashed the net leaning hard on defensemen Tom Dakai. He bounced the puck off of Turner's glove as he just pulled off the post at 14:20. Jordan McGee scored a minute later on a nice feed from Racicot at 13:25. Martin Tomanik, filling Will Meyer, had two goals in the tilt. The first came as he fooled Turner with a shot that went 5 hole. The Gamblers placed Meyer on IR as he is still symptomatic from a concussion suffered earlier this season. Meyer was on the bench and helped to coach the Gamblers to the win. The Nordiques stormed ahead with goals by Mayhew (15) and McGee (23) just to give up the lead as Marc Gattie (7) scored back-to-back goals from Ammel. Kelly Park rounded out the scoring in the second with a rip assisted by Dakai and Mayhew.

The third period was entertaining as teams traded goals. The Gamblers had a powerplay goal from Dan Ammel (19) at 14:33. Marrazzo was hauled down as he was in all alone on Turner by Brian Racicot. Referee Ed Stilson awarded a penalty shot to Marrazzo who delivered a shot that just squeaked under Turner. Park (10) tied up the game 6-6 at 8:43 just to have Tomanik (3) play the spoiler on a one-timer 20 seconds later. Dan Ammel iced the Nords with an empty netter with 0:55 seconds remaining.

In the end Turner made 37 saves on 44 shots and Greg Feiden turned away 28 of 34.
