Nordiques on a roll win 6-1 vs Avalanche

Chris Johnson is the only scorer in the top ten on a team other than Tuck. This author can see why as most of the Avs good scoring chances came from his stick. The other note is the great game that Avs goalie Jim Beraldi played despite surrendering 6 to the Nordiques. The Nordiques, after this win will bring the goal differential into the positive. The real story is about new father Kelly Park. His son's birthday bash occured two days after Park had two sick goals and one helper to raise the Nords to a record of 3 and 2. Park scored the first and last goals of the game. Both were unassisted and one was nastier then the other. Parks scoring draught ended at 10:05 of the first as he went end-to-end and slipped a backhand under fallen Avalance goalie Beraldi. The two teams traded chances. One as a Jamie James dumpin carommed off of the boards and out in front for a Sean Hochreiter one timer. Turner who miscued on the initial shot scrambled across the crease to make the save. Will Meyer was the next to find the twine at 3:25 from Park and Dan Jones. Meyer used his speed to beat the Avs D and a nice move to beat Beraldi, who was left alone on this and several other occasions. Dave Willis was the next Nordique to score with just 0:42 seconds remaining from Greg Marsh and Jason Guadette. The only goal in the second was a beauty from Caleb Hawley who roofed a solo bid over Turner's shoulder at 7:59. Beraldi made two great glove saves on the streaking Meyer in the second, keeping the Avs within reach until the Nords three goal third. Dyke Shaw potted a Meyer pass at 7:05. Then Meyer split the defense and scored on his fourth breakaway of the game. The last goal was Park's icing on the birthday cake, as his coast-to-coaster ride ended with a roofer off the bar and past Beraldi.
