Battle of the Provinces Ver. 1.0

October 14th, 2004 · 1 min read
The high powered offense of the UVHL Leafs overpowered an undermanned UVHL Canadien team. Even without leading scorers Kevin Lozier and Todd Nalette the retooled Leafs managed UVHL record for shots on goal throwing 60 plus at the Canadiens. Fred Redden in his first UVHL game buried his second rebound attempt past Turner 3:50 remaining in the first period. Defensemen John Murphy assited along with Ben Gardent. Murphy had a four point night with four helpers. Turner couldn't shut the door in the second as he was beat for three tallies. The first by Chip Davis from Dowd at 4:23, the second from Dave Fitts unassisted, and the third Dowd from Murphy with 2:39 remaining. Jim Dowd scored the most goals (2) and the most penalties (2) as he led the Leafs offense. Ben Gardent opened up the third period poking one past Turner from Fitts and Murphy. Doug Heavisdes came in alone on Turner and lit the lamp at the 5 minute mark. The only bright spot for the Canadiens was Kirt Johnson's goal at 7:20 spoiling Kenny Lalliers shutout bid. Lallier was outstanding in the nets receiving a nod for player of the week.
