In the first game of the night we have the Gamblers hosting Labatt Blues for sole possession of first place in the league. The Gamblers come into tonight with a 4-0 record as they look to remain perfect. The Blues come into tonight with a 3-0-1 record with there only loss coming in a shoot out to Tuck in week three. This game will be the game of the night, the Blues will give the Gamblers a run for their money but the G-men will hold them off for a 4-3 win.

In the first game of the night we had the Gamblers hosting the Labatt Blues for the battle of first place in the league. The Gamblers came into the night with a 4-0 record and the Blues were 3-0-1 losing just one game which was in a shootout to Tuck. In the opening period both teams came ready to play and the pace was fast. The first period wouldn"t have any scoring as both teams had a few chances on the power play but both goalies stopped everything that was thrown at them. Ryan Van Schoick for the Gamblers would end the period with 14 saves and the Blues Jay Seals would have 10 saves. The second period would be much more aggressive than the first period. It only took the Blues Justin Lawrence 25 seconds to put the Blues to a 1-0 lead. The Gamblers would respond back with a goal of their own at the 13:06 mark when the Lacroix brother set up Ethan Gage backdoor for an easy goal to tie the game at one. With the game tied at one both teams were playing hard physical and things got pretty ugly. Between the two teams there would be a total of 8 penalties called, which would lead to some 4 on 3, 4 on 4 and a few power plays as well. The Gamblers Dan Ammel would put the Gamblers up 2-1 on one of their power plays with 7:40 left in the period. It would take about five minutes for the Blues to tie the game at two when Keith Lazarczyk would score on the Blues power play with 2:40 left in the period. The period would end with the score tied at two and leaving the game wide open for the third period as both teams were playing their hardest to get the win. The Blues Seals would finish the period with 7 saves (two period total of 17) and the Gamblers Van Schoick would finish with 13 saves (two period total of 27). In the start of the third the Gamblers would take the lead just a minute into the period when Topo LaCroix would skate in on a breakaway and beat Seals to give the G-men a 3-2 lead with a lot of hockey left to play. The Blues wouldn"t take long to answer back as Mike Anderson tied the game at 3 with 11:52 to go in the period. Anderson scored when he was making a passing attempt to a teammate in front of the night and it bounced off a Gamblers player and into the net. With a little luck on their side the Blues weren"t done there as they took the lead with 11:05 left in the game as Jason Rasco left a wrist go from the slot and Van Schoick couldn"t stop it as he was screened in front. The Blues would go up 5-3 at 8:16 mark in the period when Keith Lazarczyk scored his second of the night. The game would end with the final score being 5-3 Blues but both teams played tough physical hockey as they showed why both teams are on top of the standings. Both goalies played very well as the Blues Jay Seals would finish the game with 28 saves and the Gamblers Ryan Van Schoick would finish the game with 40 saves in the losing effort.
