Tuck and the Gamblers were the only teams that were over .500 last year and played some amazing games against each other as well. The most amazing was the Whalen Cup Championship game that took 3 full periods, a 5 minute 4 on 4 overtime, a 20 minute 3 on 3 double overtime and nine rounds of a shootout before Josh "HERO" Gartner scored the cup winning goal. Tuck has been retooled yet again as the 2 year business school clears out a good portion of the roster every year while also replenishing the franchise with new young blood. The Gamblers lost one of their most consistent players in Marc "The Narc" Gattie who defected to the new Lumberjacks franchise. Other than that, the Gamblers remain in-tact and have fewer question marks than Tuck does....for that reason, the Gamblers are picked to win this one.

This game was rematch of last years Whalen Cup finals and it lived up to the hype. The Gamblers came out fast and scoring first. Matty Marrazzo scored the first goal of the UVHL season just 39 seconds into the game unassisted. The rest of the first period was back and forth with the Gamblers taking the lead into the second period. The second period was a lot like the first with a lot of back and forth play as each team was still getting the rust off there skates. The lone goal of the period didn\"t come until late in the second period when Matty Marrazzo scored his second goal of the night putting the Gamblers up 2-0 heading into the third. The third period the Gamblers started to slow down a bit and Tuck kept pushing forward and eventually getting on the scoreboard at the 6:29 mark of the period with Will Collins scoring from Marcus Widell and Jed McDonald. After Tuck got there first goal of the season they continued to pressure the tired Gamblers and with 1:41 left in the game Jed McDonald tied the game to make it 2-2. Both teams took chances and tried to get the go ahead goal but both goalies, Dan Rosen and Ryan Van Schoick would not allow another goal in regulation. This time instead of an OT period we are heading straight to a shootout, the shootout went as follows: Rnd 1. TCK-Mark Rautiola comes in fast, dekes to back hand low glove side- GOAL Rnd 1. GMB-Topo LaCroix comes in fast tries to move Rosen side to side and roof it, NO GOAL %u2013 Save Rosen Rnd 2. TCK-Will Collins straight down the middle shot high blocker, NO GOAL %u2013Save RVS Rnd 2. GMB-Goose LaCroix shot 5-hole, NO GOAL %u2013Save Rosen Rnd 3. TCK-Jed McDonald comes across the zone from left to right shot high-missed high glove side Rnd 3. GMB-Matty Marrazzo deke backhand, NO GOAL- Save Rosen Tuck wins 3-2 in a Shoot out. It should be noted that both teams played well once each team started to gel with all there new players. Also both goalies played very well in the rematch as RVS had 33 saves and Dan Rosen had 35 leading Tuck to the win.
