As predicted, more penalties than goals for Tuck-Brewers

Only 7 Tuckies faced-off against a Brew Crew bench with 2 full lines in this physical battle. The first good shot towards the Tuck goal by the Brewers came at 10:50 by Dubin who put it way over the net. Prior to that Tuck had a 6-0 edge on shots. Lazarczyk hit the post past Yacey at 9:36, and then Pomeroy had a good chance but it was deflected wide. The Brewers didn\'t get their first official shot on goal until 6:01. Yacey made a nice L pad save at 5:32 on a Pomeroy backhander. Some perfect defensive play was on display by McGovern and Johnson as they switched coverage perfectly defending an advance by the Brewers. With a penalty being called on Pomeroy for a hook, Tuck pulled Yacey and got a goal from Bates at 1:47 off a nice pass across by Johnson into the top corner over Crowson\'s blocker. yacey made a good save late in the period on a 2-on-0 against Smith and Dubin after Helming lost the puck at the blueline and then hustled back to put pressure on Dubin making the shot. SOG were 14-5 for Tuck. Inthe second Barnett interfered with Fletcher along the neutral zone boards to prevent a 2-on-1 at 13:17 and went to the box. A sweet blocker save by Yacey on Dubin nixed a 2-on-1 PP chance. Johnson and Lazarczyk gor matching roughing minors at 12:32 after a tussle behind the Tuck net. \"The Original\" Chris Johnson decided to shoot on a challenging Yacey on a 3-on-1... why, I don\'t know... The Brewers got another great chance as Pomeroy went around Yacey but could not tuck it past the outstretched L pad inside the post after a beautiful pass by CJ on a 2-on-1. I guess a pass on a 2-on-1 is better odds than a shot on a 3-on-1 in CJ\'s world... Poirier\'s stick got up high on Helming and he went to the box at 9:43 trying to stop him 1-on-1. Tuck was blocking shots on the PK. Barton, CJ, and CJ all got tangled in front of the scorekeeper\'s box, and punches were thrown. Tuck\'s CJ threw one at Barton when it really should have been directed at the original CJ, and then Barton sent a love tap his way and they both went to the box for matching roughing minors at 7:08. Tuck was pissed, and it set them off with a quick PPG and then 2 more quick ones in a span of only36 seconds. It all happened so fast, I could not write down an account of any of the goals, but Kenning scored, then Hay, and then Kenning once again in a flurry of offense that changed the game for good suddenly making it 4-0 for Tuck instead of a one goal game. The Brewers were done at that point, but a good game continued albeit dominated by Tuck. It had been a pretty even game until that point. A Barnett pass across to Helming made the score 5-0 at 4:15 as Helming waited for Crowson to be down and out before he put it in the net. Lazarczyk missed an open net off a rebound. Barnett made some sweet moves with the puck but could not score. Hay made it 6-0 from Helming and Johnson at 1:55, but I didn\'t see the goal, sorry, eh... CJ had a great chance at 1:12 but Yacey came up with the big save. The Brewers had been outshooting Tuck early in this period, but Tuck caught up and shots finished 12-10 in favor of the Brewers. Early in the third Crowson showed Bates the glove 25 seconds in. Yacey made the first save, but could not keep the shutout as his leg could not possibly stretch any farther and Pomeroy had room this time at 13:26 off the Fletcher shot. The B\'s wereoutshooting Tuck 6-2 at the 11:43 mark, and they wre playing tough. Tuck kept up with 3 less subs, and Barnett went end-to-end only to get stood up by Yehle just inside the circle at 10:49, and Yehle went to the box. Johnson took out Pomeroy in the corner and got his third roughing penalty at 9:22. There were no shots and lots of deflections, blocked shot attempts, and missed nets at both ends. In fact, it was over 4 minutes with no SOG whatsoever. Helming evaded Poirier and put on the gas and found a hole through Crowson at 3:49 from Johnson. Barton made a nice rush from his own end but CJ was offside at 1:39. Kenning was solid in the last 1:30 making smart plays defensively, and he got rid of the puck clearing it at a crucial time to end the game to preserve the 1 goal effort by his keeper. Final Score: Tuck 7, Brewers 1 Final Tally: Helming had 2G, 3A to lead all scorers, while Yacey sported a 96% save percentage allowing only 1 goal, and both players get the POW nod. James Hay had 2G, 1A, and Chris Johnson had 3A. Cort Pomeroy spoiled the shutout for Yacey. Final Analysis: Tuck is too deep, even with only 7 players. They were just excellent, every single one of them. The Brewers weren\'t bad, Tuck was just better, and their flurry of 3 goals in 36 seconds after getting pissed off showed their depth and determination. It was a rough game just as predicted, and the refs did a good job keeping it cool, while the players kept their composure even with a few roughing calls and physical play. See you on the ice! McD
