In the first game back after the two week break for the holidays we have the Whalers hosting the Nords. The Whalers are currently sitting in last place (6th) halfway through the season and the Nords are just 3 pts head of them in 5th place. This game should be a gun battle as both teams have trouble with show up with the same roster night in and night out. The edge is going to the Nords who are starting to play a bit better recently with the addition of Jerry Theiler and Christian Machelski, the Nords will win this one 6-4.

In the first game back after the two week break for the holidays we have the Whalers hosting the Nords. The Whalers are currently sitting in last place halfway through the season and the Nords are just 3 points head of them in 5th place. The Nords came out hungry after the two week break and got on the scoreboard first when Peter Scalia scored at 12:33 into the first. The Nords would then go up 2-0 when Richard Golden would put one past Lallier with 6:23 left in the first. After going up 2-0 both teams took some penalties and it allowed for some 4 on 4 action. During the 4 on 4 the Whalers Dillan Pierce would make the score 2-1 with 3:04 to play in the period. The period would end with the Nords up 2-1 but the Whalers gained some momentum for the late period goal heading into the second.

The Whalers came out swinging in the 2nd as Scott Shaw got the game tied up 2-2 a minute and 17 seconds into the period. The Whalers would keep the pressure on and score two more goals, the first coming from Matt Gauthier at 8:28 and then Mike Avery at 6:58 to put the Whalers up 4-2 halfway through the second period. The Nords would battle back though as they would score two goals of their own before the period was over, the first came from Richard Golden (second of the night) at 4:28 and the Nords would tie the score at 4 with just a 1:17 left in the period on Peter Scalia"s second of the night.

Heading into the third with the scored tied at 4-4 it was anyone"s game to win. It was the Whalers who got the games next goal when Pat Riley put them up 5-4 with 11:31 to go in the game. Just 33 seconds after scoring his first goal of the night Pat Riley would put the Whalers up 6-4 after being set up by linemates Scotty Shaw and Dillan Pierce. After scoring two quick goals the Nords weren"t sure what hit them and they weren"t able to regroup as the Whalers would score three more unanswered goals. The first game from Scotty Shaw at 7:47, then Matt Gauthier (his second of the night) at 6:15 and Dillan Pierce would close out the scoring with 2:26 left in the game to put give the Whalers a 9-4 win. With the win the Whalers are now just one point behind the Nords as they look to keep rising in the standings.
