In the first game of the night we had the Nords hosting the Labatt Blues. The Nords are coming into this week after a 10-2 loss to the Gamblers and the Blues are still undefeated after winning in a shootout last week over Tuck. The Nords have had a tough season thus far and they were able to pick up two new players that just moved into the upper valley, Christen Machelski and Jerry Theiler. With some new players into the lineup the Nords came out hungry and firing on all cylinders. The Nords dominated the first six and half minutes keeping the pressure on the Blues and firing from all angles. The Blues would push back in the last half of the period but the score would remain scoreless after one period of play. Both goalies played well and had 12 saves a piece (Colin Farr for the Nords and Jay Seals for the Blues).

The second period started off much different than the first as this time the Blues came out hungry and continued to play hard like they did in the last half of the first. It only took a 1:37 into the second for the Blues to get the game"s first goal when Keith Lazarczyk was in front of the net to tap in a rebound that Farr couldn"t control off a Mike Anderson shot. The Blues would get the games second goal about half way through the period with Mathew Littler picked the puck from the Nords defensemen (questionable no call) and skated to the top of the slot and beat Farr high glove side to make it 2-0. The Nords wouldn"t give up as they would finally get on the scoreboard with 5:22 left in the period when Spencer Zaha was able to tip one past Seals to make the score 2-1. The Blues would have to kill off a 5 on 3. Thanks to both teams" goalies they were still in this game, Seals would bail his team out on the 5 on 3 and end with 11 saves on the period, whereas Farr would finish the period with 16 saves.

In the third period the Nords kept the pressure on the Blues and it paid off when Rich Golden would tie the game at two with a shot from behind the net that he banked in off of Seals with 11:22 to go. Shortly after giving up the tying goal the Blues would take three penalties in a row and it wasn"t until the last one that the Nords new comer Jerry Theiler would score on the PP with 3:51 to put the Nords up 3-2. The Nords were playing solid hockey and just letting the clock run out until with 50 seconds left Rich Golden was called for a hooking penalty to give the Blues a chance on the PP to tie the game. The Blues would pull their goalie and make it a 6 on 4, with a two man advantage the Blues were firing from all angles on Farr. It wasn"t until 23 seconds left that the Blues Tim Barrett would take a shot from the top of the circle and Nords Mike O"Neil would dive to try to tip it out of play but instead he tipped it past goalie Colin Farr to tie the game at 3 and force a shootout. Farr would end the period with 8 saves and Seals with 6.

The shootout goes as follows:
Blues-Justin Lawrence- shot- Save Farr

Blues-Mathew Littler-deke-GOAL
