The Lumberjacks come into this game looking to keep their winning streak alive while the Nords look to move up in the standings. This game started out with back and forth play as each team was waiting for the other team to make a mistake. At 6:31 mark in the first we had the game"s first goal by the Lumberjacks with Jay Zanleoni scoring a nice backdoor goal that was set up by Tyler Dewdney and Tim Patten. The Nords continued to push back and got their first goal at 2:49 from Greg Marsh who split the D on a nice pass from Pierce Mayhew and went in all alone to be Zach Lary 5-hole. The Nords didn't stop there and scored with just six seconds left in the period by Jamie Solon put them up 2-1 after one period.
The second period started with more of the same as the Nords came out pressuring even harder which forced the Jacks to take a penalty early in the period. The Nords were able to capitalize on the PP with a goal from Billy Sailer at 11:42 with Jamie Solon setting him up in the slot. The Nords kept the pressure on and didn't waste any time getting their next goal, they scored just 40 later with Roger Phillips getting the goal. The Nords were in control of the game with a 4-1 lead but with about 3 minutes left you could see fatigue was kicking in for the Nords as they only had 8 skaters. As the period was winding down the Jacks got 3 goals in a span of 2 minutes. The second and third goals were scored by Jordan McGee who was set up by Colby Laperle and Sean Murphy both times. The goals were pretty tic tac toe passing that had the defense confused and JT couldn't get across the net quick enough on either play. The fourth goal was scored by Tim Patten who was set up by Jay Zanleoni with just 51 seconds left in the period. The period ended with the scored tied 4-4.
The third period started the Jacks coming out hard. They gained the momentum back and scored the game's next goal at 10:08 in the period. Jordan McGee got his third of the night after he undressed the defense and beat JT with a deke. The Nords would not give up as Jamie Solon tied the score just about a minute later as he picked off a Jacks pass and went in around the D and beat Lary for his second of the night. The play continued back in forth and the Jacks were the next to score. The next Jacks goal came from Tyler Dewdney who was set up by Jordan McGee and Tim Patten. Of the next faceoff Colby Laperle took the puck and skated through the whole Nords team and scored short side high on JT just 8 second later to put the Jacks up 7-5. There was about 5 minutes left in the game and the Nords were tired but trying to capitalize on their chances when they got them but they weren't have much luck. However with just a minute thirty eight left in the game Jamie Solon got his third of the night on probably one of the prettiest goals ever scored in the UVHL. Solon got a breakout pass from Stu Grande and did the rest of the work from there, as he beat the forwards pressing on him in his defensive zone and then he went wide around the defenseman, as he was doing this he made a pass to himself behind the defense and pulled Lary across the top of the crease that allowed him to tuck the puck past Lary and make the scored 7-6. On the next faceoff the Nords put the puck deep in the Jacks zone and got a shot off on Lary in which he covered. The next faceoff the Nords Jamie Solon won the puck back to Rick Hughes who was on the top of the circle, he collected the puck and let one fly right past Lary to tie the game with just a minute ten to go in the game. The game ended in a tie with a shoot out to help decide the game.

The shootout went as follows:

Rnd 1. Nords-Billy Sailer, Straight in and fires a shot -GOAL
Rnd 1. Jacks- Jordan McGee- skates in slow and shot 5-hole - GOAL
Rnd 2. Nords-Stu Grande, dekes - NO GOAL- Save Lary
Rnd 2. Jacks- Colby Laperle skates in fast and fires low 5-hole- GOAL
Rnd 3. Nords-Jamie Solon- skates in dekes-NO GOAL %u2013save Lary

The Jacks win 8-7 in the shootout. This game was the best of the night, even though the Nords only had 8 guys they played their hearts out and could have easily won this game. It was a fun game to watch as momentum kept swinging back and forth and neither team gave up!
