Gamblers offense heats up, buries Dead River 12-1

The Gamblers offense is back in full swing after a complete and utter thrashing of Dead River, 12-1. The Gambler's saw big nights from many of their players as 6 different players scored, 9 had points and their netminder Jered "The Eagle" Condon turned away 26 of 27 shots, only letting in a fluke goal halfway through the game ruining perfection.

The Gambler's MMA line of Matty "The Mailman" Marrazzo, Willy "Weeble Wobble" Meyer & Dan "The Danimal" Ammel were terrific, despite not playing the entire game together due to a full bench and uneven number of players for set lines. The MMA line / players put together 11 points, but may have not been the most impressive players on the ice as rookie Evan "Tyson's Brother" Seely & Joey "You've Got the Right Stuff" McIntyre both added 2 goals and an assist in the win. Meyer was the only player to put together the hat trick, but waited until the game was already out of hand scoring the 7th, 10th & 11th goals. Two other UVHL rookies contributed to the big win with Topo LaCroix added a pair of goals and an assist while defenseman Bryant Harris added some solid defense and a pair of helpers in the victory.

Dead River showed up short handed and the G-Men gladly let them take on Kelly "The Mouth" Park as a sub. DR's bench troubles were compounded by a one-game suspension to offensive powerhouse Robbie "Patty Cakes" Pattison who played a rough round of patty cake with Tuck's Brett Nowak which earned them both a 1 game suspension for fighting. In addition to Pattison, DR was also missing their top two goal scorers in Ricky Golden "Showers" and rookie Chris Warrington.

The Gamblers took control of this game early despite needing over 5 minutes to break the scoreless tie. They walked all over the Gamblers from the initial puck drop using their speed & superb puck movement. Evan Seely broke the tie at 9:59 when he finished a nice feed from McIntyre past Dead River's Greg "First Period" Feiden. It wasn't Feiden's night, he saw 54 shots and stopped 42 of them, but in all reality, he had little help from his team and probably still wishes he could have had a couple back.

Feiden wasn't responsible for Dead River's 2nd goal, which was a quick power play tally on a beautiful one timer from Mikey Harrington to Ammel. With Marty "Greybeard" White in the box for a very obvious hold, it only took 9 seconds from the puck drop for Harrington to get the puck at the near faceoff dot and fire a dart of a pass to Ammel on the back door...Beautiful pass...Beautiful goal. The Gamblers added another two goals in the last minute of the period behind McIntyre & last year's leading scorer Marrazzzzzzo.

END OF THE FIRST: Gamblers 4 Dead River ZILCH

The Gamblers continued to dominate the second period with a quick goal from TOPO with assists to Ammel & Harrington. Condon's perfect night was ruined by Dead River's sub, Park after letting loose a blazing 12 MPH one timer from a "Mean" Dean Cashman pass from the end boards. The shot was tipped up and over the shoulder of Condon by his own Willy Meyer. Ammel made it 6-1 with an unassisted breakaway goal at 6:22 followed by Meyer's first of three at 2:23 and Seely's second with 20 seconds to play in the period.

END OF THE SECOND: Gamberlers 8, Dead River 1

In between periods, Dead River's veteran Marty White was heard saying "let's put a couple in here, and play good defense...8-3 looks alot better than 10-1." That wisdom was not received...at all, as DR's collapse continued with 4 Gambler goals in the 3rd. To make things worse, Dead River's bench became even shorter after Park left the game early in the period because he was cramping like a 12 year old girl during her first period. In Park's defense, it was his 3rd game of the night, and he is fat and out of shape. Both McIntyre and TOPO added their second goals of the game and Meyer added 2 more to complete the hat trick.

END OF REGULAION: Gamblers 12, Dead River 1

It was a rough night for the entire Dead River crew. They were missing some key players and ran into a potent offense on the rise. The Gamblers added some new talent which looks like it's paying off in Joey McIntyre & Bryant Harris. Dead River looked awful, all 4 positions, all 3 zones, all 10 players. They've got some work to do if they want to compete with the Tuck's & Gamblers of the league. Granted they took Tuck to overtime last week in the loss.

The Gamblers deserved the win, they owned the entire sheet of ice. Are they that good? A 12 goal team? Not sure yet, the season is still early, but they aren't going to surprise anyone, not with that lineup, every team should expect the Gamblers to open up the flood gates.
