Tuck dismantles Kingers with 8 skaters (incl. 2 girls!) in Jan. UVHL return

Embarassment? Total annhialation? Or is it indifference? I can't figure it out, so the reader must decide for him/herself how and why the Storm Kings lost to Tuck in Tuck's triumphant return to the UVHL after a 4-game layoff for Christmas holidays. The Storm Kings looked poised to stomp all over Tuck with 10 skaters including Will Meyer and Kelly Park donning the red, black and white best jerseys in the league, both players more than ample replacements for Coakley and Hogger that had not yet returned to Cardigan. Tuck had a mere 8 skaters, two of them women, and on paper it was a shoo-in for the Kingers. Well, that is why we always play the game, because it didn't end up that way. Tuck welcomed Sarah Carpenter again to their line-up to give them 3D and 5 F in front of JT doing double duty in place of Tuck goaltender Anik Cote who was unavailable.

Scott Turco started the scoring (for Tuck) at 9:51 from Gary Hunter and Ryan Burkart. Kelly Park answered for the Storm Kings, and connected with Nords teammate Will Meyer, as these two Kings subs tied it up on Park's goal at 5;59. The first period ended 1-1, and there was action at both ends.

The second period started with a penalty at 12:45 to Park for hooking, but the Kingers killed it off. Tuck's Ben Kennedy scored soon after the PP expired at 9:59 from Michelle Labbe and Turco. Again, the Kingers answered barely a minute later, on Ron Dupius' goal at 8:57 assisted by Dean Cashman and Stu Close. Turco netted his second of the game at 6:24 directly from Hunter. Pat Fox went to the Tuck penalty box for holding at 1:25, and Mike Fitzgerald capitalized on the PP, continuing his scoring ways of late, at 0:52 from Meyer, with his second assist of the game.

Thus far, entering the third period, these two teams played hard, fast, and traded three goals each to have it 3-3 with 15 minutes to play. The penalties were already over and done with for the contest, and Scully didn't even take advantage of the bonus (and of course, total bullshit) penalty allotted to himself and his usual D partner thanks to the co-commishes recent rule now allowing 4 infractions before a UVHL game ejection. Turco decided to stop playing with his part-time team and stepped it up for his REAL team, and decided the game in just over 2 minutes. Turco scored from Fox at 12:54, and then again at 10:43 from Hunter and Carpenter with consecutive goals that ened the Kingers run of answering Tuck tallies at 3. The momentum continued for Tuck, and Foxxxy scored at 9:41 from Turco and Hunter to make it 6-3 and out of reach, even for the Kingers, as JT was SOLID in net for Tuck. Burkart added a goal to his assist at 5:56 from Hunter and Fox, and the score was now 7-3, and the Kingers looked dejected, or was it indifferent? I couldn't tell. Mike Fitzgerald didn't give up, and he scored his second of the game at 2:16 from Meyer, who tallied his 3rd assist of the night in reserve for the Kingers.
