Lumberjacks Steamroll Tuck in 6-1 Rout

January 8th, 2025 - 9:20 PM | Tuck Arena

Final Score: Lumberjacks 6 - Tuck 1

Back from Break, But Not Ready for This

The Tuck Law School Turduckens returned from their extended holiday break hoping to make a statement, but the Lumberjacks had other plans. Powered by guest goaltender Evan "Almighty" Cline (subbing in for the absent Luke "The Duke" McCormick), the Lumberjacks came out firing and never looked back.

Tuck outshot the Lumberjacks 37-32, but that number is wildly misleading. The Lumberjacks buried their chances, while Tuck shot from the perimeter like they were allergic to high-danger areas.

First Period: Lumberjacks Flex Early

Lumberjacks 1-0 (10:45) - Jay "Big Z" Zanleoni opened the scoring after a Nate DeLuca shot deflected 20 feet in the air like it was shot from a trebuchet. Big Z calmly snagged it from midair, dropped it, and fired low glove side past Tuck's goalie Jenkins Marshall.

Lumberjacks 2-0 (8:42) - Nate "DeRoofa" DeLuca did his usual thing—embarrassing defensemen. After a pass from Zach "Dangerous" Dayno, DeLuca toe-dragged, waited for Tuck defenders to slide themselves into irrelevance, and finally tapped it off the near post and in.

Lumberjacks 3-0 (7:57) - Jordy "McNasty" McGee added to the pain, picking up a slick feed from Zanleoni before undressing Marshall with a filthy move and finishing forehand.

Lumberjacks 4-0 (5:49) - This one was all about puck movement. Neil "Mac Attack" MacKenzie started a ridiculous tic-tac-toe sequence that saw Alex Brands, DeLuca, and Dayno all touch the puck before Brands deflected the final pass into an empty net.

Tuck 1-4 (1:39, PP Goal) - Tuck finally broke through after Jay Zanleoni took a lazy tripping penalty. Matty Ouellette took a bad-angle shot from the goal line that somehow fooled Cline, who was apparently taking a mental vacation at that moment.

"I wasn’t even mad, I was just disappointed in myself." - Evan Cline

End of the First: Lumberjacks 4, Tuck 1 | Shots: Tuck 17, Lumberjacks 13

Second Period: Tuck Tries, But No Luck

The second period saw fewer goals but plenty of action.

Cline made a pair of monster saves early on, including a robbery on Maclean "Die Hard" Lalor.

Meanwhile, Marshall returned the favor, stoning DeLuca on a breakaway and later making a highlight-reel shoulder save on Nico Brands.

Lumberjacks 5-1 (4:31) - Zanleoni notched his second of the night on a clean shot from the slot, finishing a crisp passing play from McGee and Kimball.

End of the Second: Lumberjacks 5, Tuck 1 | Shots: Tuck 8, Lumberjacks 11

Third Period: Cline Slams the Door

Tuck put the pressure on in the third, but Cline simply wasn’t in the mood to allow another goal.

His best sequence came when he made back-to-back stops on Goff and Yablong, including a desperation left-pad save that made even his own teammates shake their heads.

Lumberjacks 6-1 (6:23) - The final goal was pure comedy. Dayno tried to set up DeLuca for a backdoor tap-in, but the puck deflected off **Marshall’s pad and trickled into the net** for an own goal.

End of Regulation: Lumberjacks 6, Tuck 1 | Shots: Tuck 12, Lumberjacks 7
