| OVER/UNDER: | 7 |
This week we see the top two teams go head to head. Tuck and the Lumberjacks come into this week tied for first place (5-1)and there is no better way to decide who is going to take over sole possesion of first place then playing the game out.
Tuck is led by Jed McDonald and Will Collins up front with Jed McDonald is leading the league with 17 pts. Tuck has the hottest goaltender in the league with Dan Rosen who is coming off a 40 save performance against the Gamblers.
The Jacks are led by Jordan McGee and Colby Laperle, Mcgee who is third in points with 11pts has been the major spark for the Jacks lately as they have won 5 straight. The Jacks have the second best goalie in the league with Zach Lary who has been solid and bailed them out a few games.
Tuck will win this one 5-2 as there top line is very good and Rosen is too hard to beat when he is on!
Tuck and the Lumberjacks come into this week tied for first place (5-1) and the winner will be in sole possession of first place. The Lumberjacks had a full roster minus Zach Lary, as Ryan Libby was on goaltending duties tonight. Tuck on the other hand was rather light from the Thanksgiving break and only had 10 players. The game started out with back and forth action as neither goalie was going to give up an easy goal tonight. The Lumberjacks were the first to get on the board as Colby Laperle picked up the puck in his defensive end, went down the side boards and beat Dan Rosen five hole at 12:39. Just 50 seconds later Jared Pomerance tied the game when he got a nice pass from Will Collins and beat Libby to tie the game. Then about two minutes later Pomerance returned the favor as Will Collins put in the rebound off a Pomerance shot and put Tuck up 2-1. Just ten seconds after going up 2-1 Tuck took its first penalty and on that power play Colby Laperle tied the game after being set up by Jordan McGee. The last 6:46 of the period was really quite as each team had chances but both goalies held there own.
The second period was much like the first with both teams having chances but not able to capitalize on them. The Jacks finally put another one past Rosen at 10:23 mark in the period as Sean Murphy got a hard tape to tape pass from Jordy McGee and it allowed for Murphy to split the defense and go in to beat Rosen with a low hard shot. The Jacks continued to keep the pressure on and forced Tuck to take another penalty at 8:12 mark in the period. On the power play, the Jacks were able to get the puck deep and set up, as they were moving the puck in the corner Marc Gattie snuck into the slot were Jordy hit him with a pass and that he was able to one-time it home putting the Jacks up 4-2. Tuck kept pushing back but they were unable to get another puck past Libby in the remainder of the period.
The Jacks came into the third period with a 4-2 lead and although Tuck had a short bench they never gave up. Tuck was getting some good scoring chances but just couldn\"t beat Libby and vice versa for the Jacks as they couldn\"t be Rosen. This went on for most of the period until the Jacks took a penalty with 2:50 left in the game. Tuck set up their power play but they weren\"t have any luck and with about a minute and half left in the game they pulled Rosen to have a 6 on 4 on the power play. Tuck was unable to score on the power play but with 40 seconds left they got within one goal as Pomerance scored his second of the night. The Jacks managed to hang on with a 4-3 win and take over first place.
Notes: Dan Rosen finished the night with 38 saves and kept his team in the game all night but they couldn\"t capitalize on their offensive chances. Ryan Libby made 25 saves and wasn\"t tested as much but he was very solid in his second game.
