Bronze Medal Game: Whalers @ Nordiques
| ODDS: | EVEN |
| OVER/UNDER: | 8.5 Goals |
In the final game of the 2013-2014 season the Nordiques take on the Whalers for the "Bronze Medal." The Nordiques took the season series by winning three of five with an 8-3 blowout win on March 18th. The Nordiques also have a stranglehold on the lifetime series between with 37 wins and 17 losses. What does all that mean? Absolutely jack shit. The Whalers are a better team than the 8-3 loss last month and a much better team than the early Whaler's squad that racked up a majority of the losses.
These are two very comparable teams that were only separated by 1 point in the standings. The Nordiques only scored 60 goals this season while the Whalers scored 65. The Nord's let up 94 while the Whalers let up 91.
The Whalers have the offensive advantage with their big 4 of Woody "Red Light" Redpath(26 pts), Jay "The Zamboni" Zanleoni(21 pts), Jamie "Kennedy" Kerrigan(19 pts) and Scotty "Sugar" Shaw(17 pts) all racking up over a point a game. The Nords only have 3 players averaging a point a game, Jordy "McBreakaway" McGee(32 pts), Pierce "Mayhem" Mayhew(17 pts) and Roger "Duck Dodger" Phillips(16 pts).
The Nordiques have a slight advantage in net with Johnny "Temper Tantrum" Turner manning their crease compared to the elder statesman Kenny "The Legend" Lallier. Neither of them have a great GAA sitting over 5 goals per game.
Defense is a wash because nobody REALLY plays defense in men's league.
With that being said, this should be a great game. Whalers & Nords may take this one to extra innings, but Vegas says it'll be somewhere around a 5-4 win one way or another.
