Bruins edge the Leafs 6-5 and advance to the Semifinal round.

Hold on to your hats. With Mc Dermott away, John Turner was in charge and had to make some tough decisions. The Leafs were undermanned with only 6 regulars making the arduous trek from their couches to the sub-artic frozen tundra of Union Arena. Maybe it was bad scheduling more than a lame showing. School Vacation week may be a bad one for playoffs. The Bruins however had a solid showing and were ready to go. Turner consulted both captains and the choice was made to play even considering the shortened Leaf bench. Bruins captain Greg Hadley proposed that his visiting friend Jeff Norton sub and join the Leafs for this quarter final game. Leafs captain and commishioner Turner agreed and the puck dropped at its usual 8:05 start time. All that watched and participated were treated to a great game that was only decided late in the third period. The Leafs were down a goal at 5-4 and the always solid Kenny Lallier made a rare puck handling mistake which gave a forechecking Bruin an empty net goal seeming to put the nail in the Leaf's season. Only to have them pull the goalie and claw back within one. A few more minutes and maybe a few more players and the Leafs would likely had advanced to the semis. Well... maybe next year. This is the third season that the Leafs have had a poor showing in the playoffs. Maybe the league needs to ad an extra week to the season to avoid this problem.
