In the last game of the season we had the last place team, Whalers hosting the top seed Blues. Both teams showed up with two lines each and the game looked like it was going to be another long night for the Whalers as they let the Blues go up 1-0 on a goal from Keith "Bubba" Lazarczyk at 10:44. The Blues weren't done though as Bart Moran would score the games next two goals, the first at 7:51 and the second one at 7:37 to give the Blues a quick 3-0 lead. The Whalers finally woke up as Russ Teller got them on the board with a nice tic tack toe passing play with 4:22 remaining. The Blues would answer right back with a goal from Mike Anderson with 3:47 left in the period. The period would end with the Blues up 4-1 as they looked well in control of this game.

Even though the Whalers were down 4-1 they came out hungry and playing the best hockey I had seen all year from them. The Whalers were dominating the play and getting a ton of shots but nothing was getting by Seals. The Blues TJ Moran who would put the Blues up 5-1 with 13:07 remaining but it was all Whalers from here on out. The Whalers were dictating the play and with 7 minutes remaininng in the second they were out shooting the Blues 12-1. The period would end with the Blues up 5-1 heading into the third but the Whalers played a hard period and out shot the Blues 17-6.

In the third the Whalers continued to play hard and it finally paid off as Kelly Park would pull the Whalers within 3 goals at 9:59 mark. Then the Whalers Pete Scalia would make it 5-3 with 7:25 remaining but that is as close as they would get. The Blues would win the game by the score of 5-3 enough though they were out shot again 12-7.
