In the first game of the night we had the undefeated Blues playing the Gamblers. This was the first meeting of 2018-19 season for these two teams and it held up to the expectations. In the first period the game was back and forth with the Blues having 3 pp chances and the Gamblers having one but neither team could score on their chances. After one period of play the game was tied 0-0.

In the second period the Gamblers took a penalty to start the period and on the PP chance Brian Smith of the Blues would put his team up 1-0 with 11:09 remaining in the period. The Gamblers would proceed to take two more penalties but the Blues could not capitalize on them. The Blues would then take two penalties in the final 3 minutes of the period but the Gamblers also couldn't cash in on their PP chances. The period would end with the Blues leading the Gamblers by the score of 1-0 in game that had 10 penalties in the first two periods.

In the third period the both teams made their final push as the Gamblers continued to knock on the door with a few breakaways but the Blues Jay Seals kept turning them away. The Blues had some very good chances as well but Ryan Van Schoick of the Gamblers was equally as good on the other end not letting anything by. The Blues took a penalty about half way through the third and it looked like a great chance for the Gamblers but yet again they couldn't score to tie the game. With 2:06 the Blues took another penalty to give the Gamblers one final chance at tying the game. The Gamblers would pull their goalie to make the PP a 6 on 4. While playing up with two guys the Gamblers test Seals with numerous shots but he was a brick wall in net, the Gamblers wouldn't give up as they were just throwing everything at the Blues and finally with 45 seconds left the Gamblers Ryan LaCroix would tie the game at 1-1 on a rebound goal that wasn't pretty but it counted. The period would end with the score tied at 1 and this game would head to a shootout.

In the shootout the Gamblers choose to go second, the shootout went as follows:

Blues: Tim McAuliffe would go first and be stopped by Ryan Van Schoick
Gamblers: Max Woods would go and be stopped by Jay Seals
Blues: Bart Moran would be stopped by Ryan Van Schoick
Gamblers: Will Meyer would come in and deke forehand to backhand and sneak it by Seals, 1-0 Gamblers
Blues: Tyler White would come and be stopped by Ryan Van Schoick, the Gamblers win the shootout/game by the score of 2-1 to knock off the top team in the league.
