The Lumberjacks came into this game with a 2-1 record looking to keep their winning streak going; meanwhile the Gamblers are still looking for team chemistry and someone to start leading the way. Both teams came out hungry and looking for that first goal to set the tempo. The Jacks pressured the Gamblers early and go lots of opportunities but Ryan Van Schoick made some big saves. After making a nice save at the 12 minute mark, the Gamblers turned the puck up ice to Max Woods who broke in offensive zone with a 2 on 1 with Ethan Gage, Woods hit Gage back door with a nice pass and Gage beat Alex Kremer high glove side for the game"s first goal. The period continued with chances at both ends but each goalie made numerous saves to keep the score 1-0 Gamblers after one.
The second period started with the Gamblers pressuring hard and looking to take a 2-0 lead but they were able to get the second goal early in the period. The Jacks finally got on the scoreboard at 10:32 with a goal from Jordan McGee as he got a pass from Jake Robinson out of the corner. The Gamblers continued to pressure the Jacks looking to get the lead back, they finally did at 5:55 as Max Woods buried home a rebound on a shot from Topo Lacroix to put the Gamblers up 2-1. The Jacks answered right back just two minutes later tying the game on a goal from Tim Patten and the assist going to Jay Zanleoni. The period ended with score tied and the Gamblers taking a penalty with just 21 seconds left in the period.
The Jacks power play continued over to start the third period an and it took the Jacks just 38 seconds to get a power play goal from Colby Laperle who beat RVS low five hole on a shot from slot. This power play goal got the Jacks going, they scored another goal less than a minute later from Jay Zanleoni . After this goal the Gamblers got into trouble again as they drew another penalty. On the assuming power play the Jacks scored again from Colby Laperle putting the Jacks up 5-2 and scoring three goals in a span of three minutes. The Gamblers didn"t give up as they kept pushing back and scored a goal just 30 seconds after the Jacks scored 3 goals, Gage was on the point and got a pass from Dan Ammel , Gage let the shot go from the point and it pinballed into the back of the net cutting the lead to two. The Lumberjacks answered back again at 9:59 as Sean Murphy beat RVS low stick as he broke in down the boards. The Gamblers were only able to get one more goal at 4:35 from Ethan Gage who was in the slot, he got a nice pass from Ryan LaCroix and he buried it for the hat trick. The Gamblers kept pressuring to get within one goal but the Jacks and Kremer would not allow them too. The Jacks win the game 6-4.
The Jacks played well and were able to capitalize on two out of the four power plays. The Gamblers had trouble staying out of the box and it ultimately cost them the game.
