Dead River Looks To Break Trend Against Gamblers

The Gamblers have taken all 4 meetings this year against Dead River. Two of those wins were by long margins, the other two were extremely close, well played games.

The last game ended in a 4-3 Gamblers win on a late game winning goal by Topo "Thing 1" LaCroix. Dead River was down in that game but a pair of James "Han" Solon goals in the middle of the third tied the game at 3 apiece.

The mid-season addition of Solon has been a complete moral booster for the Dead Riverians, adding some much needed speed, skill and puck control to the team. He sits 3rd in the league with 2.57 points per game. Solon is only one man and the Gamblers have 5 players in the top 10 in scoring this season with LaCroix leading the way with 33 points.

Goaltending is a big question mark here. Dead River's Matty "Tazzy" Albertazzi can be one of the best in the league if the gets some help defensively and decides to stand on his head to keep his team within striking distance. The Gambler's starting goaltender Ryan Van Schoik has been in and out of the lineup due to injury and work related commitments, and you never know who will be in net.

This game should be close to start, but I think the Gamblers will show up prepared. Gamblers open things up in the third and win this one 6-3.

Gamblers Route Dead River 7-2

For the fifth time this season the Gamblers took on Dead River and left with a win. There have been some blowout wins and some VERY close shocking games, but this one was more of a blowout than anything.

The season series greatly favored the Gamblers with a 5-0-0 record and outscoring Dead River 37-14.

The Gamblers used six different goal scorers in this one, with Dan "The Danimal" Ammel being the only Gambler to net more than one. Dead River's goals both came off the stick of Justin "Juice" Lawrence with assists from James "Han" Solon.

This was really only a close game for the first 9 minutes as Gamblers held a 2-1 lead with six minutes to play and adding a third goal to finish the first period 3-1. The G-Men then opened up the flood gates in the second, scoring four in the frame.

This game did lose 2:30 as the Dead River team was late getting to the rink and the clock ran until their goaltender was in the net.

GOAL RECAP:

GAMBLERS 1-0: Marc "The Narc" Gattie storms down the far boards and fires a pass through the slot to Josh "Mr." Robinson at the near face-off dot. Robinson fires a quick wrister under the cross bar as Matty "Tazzy" Albertazzi slid across the net. Great pass, great shot.

DEAD RIVER 1-1: James "Han" Solon gets a partial breakaway, gets tripped, falls on his ass but still manages to coral the puck and push it to Juice Lawrence who who put a quick shot on net, saved by Lary, and then jammed home the rebound.

GAMBLERS 2-1: Topo "Thing 1" LaCroix took a long pass from Jason "Slapshot" Young and flies down the far side, cuts hard along the bottom of the circle and around the defenseman and into the crease. As he gets knocked down by the defenseman, he manages to jam the puck under Albertazzi.

GAMBLERS 3-1: Matty "The Mailman" Marrazzo always delivers as he fed finds Douglas "Lightweight" Heavisides all alone in the slot. Heavy made a quick move to the far post and onto his backhand before sliding it along the ice past Tazzy.

GAMBLERS 4-1: Marrazzo made a cross ice pass to the weak side defenseman, Marc "The Narc" Gattie. Gattie fires a shot through a screen and the puck finds a hole under Tazzy's left pad.

GAMBLERS 5-1:Ammel gets a breakaway, does a double-spin-o-rama, goes behind the net, flips it over the crossbar to himself in the slot where he bats it out of the air and into the net. SWEET!

GAMBLERS 6-1: Ammel feeds Marrazzo in the high slot. Marrazzo lets a quick shot along ice again under left pad.

GAMBLERS 7-1: The DanAmmel in his normal spot, back door, and gets a point shot that bounces off the end boards and throws it in the empty net.

DEAD RIVER 2-7: Solon makes a great pass to "Juice" Lawrence through the slot. Lawrence makes a move from backhand to forehand for the open netter.
