Cardigan has had a history of a slow start this season. If that happens in this game, the Gamblers will slaughter them and drive home without a thread of empathy. Ironically in week 4, Cardigan went up 3-0 on the hapless Gamblers before they stormed back with six unanswered goals.

The Gamblers have now won their last 5 games and aren't about to slow down. Cardigan started their season off with two wins, followed by 3 losses and shootout loss, a win over Dead River and then a hearbreaking loss to the Nordiques last week.

Cardigan is powered by Owen "Carpe Diem" Carpino who is racking up goals(25) like Ryan "Kitchen" Sinclair racks up fake teeth. Speaking of Sinclair, Cardigan hasn't been the same since he went down with a knee injury earlier this season. The heart and soul of this team, his absence is missed in all three zones.

The Gambler's offense is scary good. They've got two solid lines, 4 solid defense and are backed by a big & talented netminder. Matty "The Mailman" Marrazzo(11-8-19) always delivers, Willy "Mighty Mouse" Meyer(5-13-18) is here to save the day, Ryan "Thing 2" LaCroix(10-5-15) and his brother Topo "Thing 1" LaCroix(4-7-11) wreak havoc all over the ice and Dan "The Danimal" Ammel(9-5-0) is...an animal on the ice(I know...weak).

The Gamblers are too much for Cardigan and will walk away with this one in the second. Their top line will score 5 goals, 2nd line 2 goals and Carpino will score all 3 of Cardigan's goals...final...Gamblers Win 7-3.

Cardigan Stuns Gamblers 6-5

The high-powered Gamblers(6-2-0) were 4 goal favorites over Cardigan(3-5-0) heading into tonight's game. Cardigan's season has been inconsistent at best, but despite consistently falling behind early in a handful of their games, they've consistently battled back to provide both entertaining and competitive games. Two weeks ago they went down 6-1 to the Whalers and battled back to an 8-7 loss. Last week they went down 5-4 to the Nordiques before working their way back 5-4 and eventually loosing 8-6.

Tonight was no different as they went down 2-0 in the first 5:15 of this game on goals from Matty "The Milkman" Marrazzo and Cody "Horse" Dodds. Dodds earned a Player Of the Week(POW) nomination for his two goal performance while manning the Gambler's blue line all night. The first star was Cardigan's Bryant Harris who had a pair of goals and an assist including the game winner late in the third period while, also, patrolling the blue line.

Thanks to the Gambler's Willy "Mighty Mouse" Meyer for this brief game recap I begged him for.
"We came out got two quick goals I think, then Cardigan fought back and started moving the puck very well east to west. They were very good at using the whole ice surface to their advantage and started beating our d on the outside of the rink. We then finally realized that and starting playing that a bit better. It was a good hard fought game that went back and forth with a little bit of chippyness from both teams. We fought back I think to tie it 5-5 in middle of the 3rd then gave up a goal with about 3 or 4 mins left. They took a shot on Van Schoik, he made the first save, the second, the third and even the forth but then Bryant Harris stepped in from the point and tapped home a backhand bouncing puck after Van Schoik 4 saves to seal the game. We had a great pressure with hte last minute or so and pulled our goalie but couldn't get one in. Tazzi made some decent saves in the last minute and they held on for the win."

Cardigan is much better than anyone gives them credit for. They're yet to put together a complete game this season, but have the firepower to get back into any game.

This was the Gamblers game to loose and they did just that. They may have come into this game a bit too relaxed and in the end fell to an inferior foe...or did they?!?!?
