Tuck Rebounds From 0-2 Start, Beats Cardigan 6-4.

"It was a great game, many many shots and the goalies were spectacular!" was Ryan Sinclair's recap after his Cardigan team lost 6-4 to Tuck. Sinclair is out for the next 8 weeks with an MCL tear, and his team really could have used him tonight, as they came out strong, posted a 2-0 lead, but tired too quickly and saw Tuck turn the tides.

Tuck had a different perspective on the game as their offensive leader, Brandon Harrington, was quoted as say "It was a weird game%u2026" and then refused to elaborate. That comment could have been associated with the string of roughing calls and aggressive manner of play that Cardigan brought to the table. In net for Tuck was their backup goaltender Josh Gartner who stopped 27 of 31 goals, slightly besting Cardigan's Matty "Tazzy" Albertazzi who's 5 goals allowed on 38 shots wasn't too shabby either.

Leading the way, as usual, for Tuck was Harrington who scored his 10th and 11th goals of the year while adding only his 4th & 5th assists for 4 points on the night. I'm not saying that he doesn't pass, but that goal to assist ratio seems a bit off. Max Pinto also matched Harrington's efforts, with his first two goals and assists of the year%u2026both Pinto & Harrington earning Player Of the Week nominations and Stars of the game.

Mike Fitzgerald opened the scoring in the first period from "Bad" Tad Skelley who also added a roughing penalty%u2026actually Cardigan must have had a chip on their shoulders as they picked up 3 roughing penalties late in the second and into the third period. Skelley, Chris "Heathen" Heaney and Sophie "LeElbow" Leclerc all set the tone.

LeClerc finished off a Chris Warrington pass with 5:11 left in the first period for the 2-0 lead heading into the first intermission.

Tuck came out flying in the second period behind goals from Harrington & Pinto, sandwiched around Owen "Carpe Diem" Carpino's power play unassisted league leading 12th goal. Tuck picked up two penalties to start the period with Eric "The Rat" Rautiola whistled down for Tripping at 10:29 and then Peter "Cougar" Mellen's roughing call at 5:52 that led to Carpino's PP goal just under a minute later.

Still down by a goal heading into the third period, Tuck turned on the gas and outscored Cardigan 4-1 in the last frame. Cardigan had to kill off a 5 on 3 to start the period, only to add Sophie LeClerc's roughing penalty with 13:50 to play. That penalty put them back on a 5 on 3 leading to a Mellen score, tying the game at 3 apiece. Cardigan's Skelley put his team back on top with 9:57 to play, but Cardigan's legs were shot after fighting through almost 4 minutes of 5 on 3 penalty killing. Tuck capitalized and added two quick goals behind Jeff "The Wasp" Wannop and Harrington's second goal of the game at 7:15. Pinto added an empty netter with 47 seconds to play as icing on the cake and Tuck went home with a 4-1-0 record to start the season.

Vegas was almost spot on for this game, saying Tuck would win 6-4.
