The fighting Gamblers of Enfield have been on a tear, winning 6 in a row and outscoring their opponents 35-15. The Storm Kings have back to back solid games including a 3-0 shutout of the lowely Nordiques.

This is J-Red "Condor" Condon's last game before he heads out west to the N.J.I.S.2.K.L.S.I.S.S.Y.H.L. where he will be the 8th string netminder for the Evansville Pillow Biters of Indiana. The Gamblers top line may have too much speed for the smart, but slow Storm Kings defense, but the Storm King's offense may also be too fucking smart for the Gambler's defense. Dan French had the big shutout last week, but his family was there to root him on, if his family is in the stands Frenchy will be player of the week again.

My Prediction......Gamblers by 1 goal 5-4.

Gambers @ Storm Kings

The Gamblers are tearing up the UVHL after a terrible start to the year. With a shootout victory tonight, they have won 7 in a row to top the standings this season. The Storm Kings have been consistent hosting a 5-3-1 record coming into tonights action, but looked like a rag tag pickup hockey team after bringing the wrong set of jersey's to the rink tonight.

The Gamblers struck first on the power play. with a Trey "Veiny" Schaft slap shot that made the Storm King's netminder, Danny French "Toast" squirt in his pants a little. I'll give you two guesses who was in the box for the Kingers.....no, not Stout.....yes, it was Tommy "Gun" Scull. The Kinger's bounced back with a Robbie Pattison goal from Mikey "The Hot Fuzz" Fitzgerald & Scull with 3:36 to go......." I didn't fucking see it......so......I can't give you any information" (Shawny "McHotFudgeBuffaloWings" McDermott).

The second period saw zero penalties and 5 goals being scored, 3 for the Kingers & 2 for the Gamblers. Big Bruce "Loose Goose" Hathorn put the Gamblers up 2-1 when he took a centering pass from "Rolls" Royce Lawrence with 11:59 to go. Frenchy made a "RETAAAAAAHHHHHDED Kick Save with ten and a half minutes to go, as Matty 'The Milkman' Marrazzo wrapped hard around the net." The Kingers added the next 3 tallies in the period in under 4 minutes. The first coming off of Patty Turcotte's stick as he SLAMMED home a rebound off of J-Red "Condor" Condon's horrific new pads that were an obnoxious flourescent white that would burn your retina if you looked at them too long. Condon made a few spectacular saves in between goals, one was a statue of liberty as he snagged a WICKED backhander from Pattison that was labeled for the upper corner. Marty "Gandolf the Grey" White put the Kinger's ahead with an unassisted goal at 4:27 as he picked up a loose puck in the zone and beat Condon with a well placed shot through a screen.

The Kinger's Artie "The One Man Party" Stout had a beautiful defensive play, picking off two clearing attempts at the Gambler's Blue line which turned into another Gambler's turnover and Pattison's second goal of the night. Pattison made a nice move in the high slot, side stepping a Gamblin' defensman before beating Condon like a rented mule with a quick snapper putting the SURGING STORM QUEENS...er....KINGS up 4-2. The Gambler's Willy "Mighty MOUSE" Meyer brought his team back within one with only 17 seconds to go after Tommy Scull made a horrific mistake, trying to pass the puck from the corner to the middle. Meyer picked the pass off and beat Frenchy low stick side. "Scully......living up to his moniker as 'Tommy Turnover'" (McDermott)

The 3rd period was fairly uneventful for the first 6 and a half minutes, with a good flow and a couple of chances at both ends. Willy Meyer and Dan "The Animal" Ammel combined for the game tying goal when French cleared a puck right onto the stick of Meyer at center ice. Meyer broke into the zone, fired a quick shot which Frenchy kicked to the corner, but Meyer quickly threw the puck to Ammel in front of the net who beat Frenchy before he could get back into position.

This is where the game turned ugly with a "Big Fucking Scrum......as a Storm King player knocked Bruce Hathorn into Frenchy. In typical Frency fashion, he EXPLODED before finding out what happened and hammered on Hathorn. The Gambler's Scotty Davis comes in, charges on Frenchy.....big scrum happening. Joey 'The New Kid On The Block' McIntyre goes in there, pulls of Frenchy's helmet, gets his helmet knocked off. Scully mixing it up as well." This ended in Scully & McIntyre ejections & French taking an unsportsmanlike. The Gamblers poured it on to finish out the period as the game got pretty chippy and the Kinger's took 2 more penalties.

The game went to a shootout where teh Gamblers were victorious scoring 2 / 5 to the Storm King's 1 / 5. The Kinger's chose to go first....

Dec 24th, 2008 05:34 PM First and foremost BIG congratulations to Jered Condon on his minor league contract to keep the dream alive - something we can all admire and respect. If it was me, they'd have to drag me off the ice, so WAY TO GO, JERED!!! YAAAAHHH!!! Also, a heartfelt congrats to the Gamblers on first place for the second week in a row. Methinks that makes 7 wins in a row...and as I recall the UVHL record is 11 or 12... MERRY CHRISTMAS to all UVHLers!
