Bruins jump out to early 4-1 lead on Kingers, but fall 7-4

The Storm Kings hosted the Bruins in the 2nd game of the night and Vegas had the Kingers as a 6 goal favorite in this game with an over under of 10.5 goals. The Storm Kings took immediate control of the play, walking down the ice and forcing Greg Hadley to make a couple of big saves. Even with the quick domination by the Storm Kings, the Bruins struck first when Donny Powers cleaned up some garbage in front to put the Bruins on top with 11:32 to go. The Bruins jumped out to a 2-0 lead when Mathew "Friends" Perry tipped in a blistering shot from Matty Marrazzo from just inside the blue line at the 9:06 mark. The Kingers did bounce back with 6:59 as Timmy Leroy, from the far corner, fed Robbie "Bg Boy" Barker in the slot who beat Hadley off the glove and into the top corner with a backhander from dead center in the slot. Hadley went down faster than the Titanic on that one. The Bruins answered with 157 remaining when Jordan "Local Legend" McGee broke into the zone, one on one with Greg "Loosey Goosey" Gosslin, took him across the slot and beat Frenchy with a low backhander just inside the post.

The Kingers continued to carry the play but again the Bruins managed to jump on another turnover when Donny Powers tips in a shot from the point off of Mark "Giant Chubby Hubby" Weglarz just 1 minute and 22 seconds into the 2nd. That was about as good as it would get for the Bruins as I predicted that the Kingers would start to jump all over the Bruins & end up wining 9-4. Robbie Barker started off the scorefest for the Kings when Jay Smith coughed up the puck in the slot and Barker ripped a quick wrister high glove on Hadley who was down on his knees quicker than Monica Lewinsky. The Kingers struck again just 39 seconds later(12:54) as Barker picked up a loose puck in the slot heading towards the near post, then fired a quick pass back across the crease to Cashman on the far post who chipped it past a downed Hadley.

Timmy Leroy tied the game up exactly two minutes later(10:54) when he tried to come out front from behind the net, Hadley did a nice job of stuffing him, but Leroy put his own rebound in under a disheveled Hadley. Leroy was on a mission and put the Kingers up for good just 11 seconds later beating Hadley high blocker with a twisted wrister from the high slot off of another Barker pass. The Kingers went up 6-4 with 9:45 remaining when Mikey "The Fugitive" Fitzgerald beat a defenseman wide on the far boards, feathered a pass through the other defenseman and to a streaking Ian Gill. Hadley went down faster than then Hindenberg. and Gilly snapped a quick wrister up over the blocker shoulder, off the crossbar and in.

The Bruins actually played decent hockey for the remainder of the 2nd period, notching a couple of good scoring opportunities that were turned away by the veteran Dan French. Hadley was great in the second half as well, turning away 8 shots.

END OF THE SECOND: Storm Kings 6, Bruins 4
SHOTS: Storm Kings 23, Bruins 15

The 3rd party

The Storm Kings picked up some speed in the 3rd period, totally dominating possession of the puck and shots and ultimately outshooting the B's 16-1, but it seemed like the extra ice was affecting their shooting as they were only able to mount one goal on the Bruins in the 3rd. The goal was scored by Barker with 6:39 remaining when he picked up the puck in the slot from a Leroy pass, stick handled through 4 guys, and tried throwing it behind the back to Leroy at the back door but the puck redirected off one of the many Bruins players in front of the net doing absolutely nothing. No fault to Hadley, but the only time in the game that he didn't go down early, he probably should have been.

At the end of the game, the Bruins netminder decided to whine and complain to one of the commissioners, prompting John Turner to say that Hadley is a little "cry ass." I've never even heard that term before, but for some reason......Hadley is DEFINITELY a little "cry ass!"
