KIngers win 2nd straight by way of SHOOTOUT!!!!

The RED HOT Storm Kings hosted the ice cold Brewers in the first game of week 11. The Kingers, winners of their past 5, including a 14-5 blowout of the Bruins and a 2-1 shootout win over Tuck. The sinking ship in the dark deep sea of Long Trail, known as the Brewers, were coming off of a soild 4-2 win......oh, over the 1-8-1 Leafs, and previously 4 consecutive losses.

In what will soon be known as PENALTY FEST 2007 PART 2, and the return of head ref Tony "THE GOVE-NATOR" Gove, was actually an awesome game to watch. Gove started the game off by falling on his decrepid old ass, RIGHT in front of me, in under 30 seconds......priceless! You just can't enjoy that enough.

In the absence of the Kingers top offensive guns, Bob "The Price Is WRONG" Barker & Timmy "Tooltime" Leroy, Dean Cashman was outstanding, potting himself a hat trick a helper and 4 PIMS. One Leaf's player commented after Cashman's 2nd goal....."Who is that #4.....he's kind of a prick, eh?" Yes, Cash definitely is! Ronnie "The Hobbit" Dupuis had a career night, with 3 helpers while the Brewers' star front-liners Christian "The Anti-Christ" Isaac & Nick "Dr. McSelfish" Bayley stood tall again.

The Brewers were also jumpstarted by the fact that their day to day netminder, Peter "The Screen Door" Bartline was trying to keep his GAA average down by missing the game. With Bartline out, Brewers' forward Brent "Cheap Trick" Adams filled in between the pipes. Not having played net full time since high school and not having thrown the pads on in over 4 months, Adams gave his team an excellent chance to win this game. Adams even riled up the Kingers players so much by slashing them in the ankles every time they stepped in the low slot, spearing them in the gut every time they went behind the net and just doing anything possible to piss them off and throw them off their game.

For over 7 minutes, nut much happened, besides an Artie "Oglethorp" Stough interference penalty. Then the Brewers decided that they wanted to make things a bit more interesting and had Mike "The Hook" Hickey take a hooking penalty at 7:35, Dave "Mulligan" Mullins take a holding call with 6:26 remaining putting the Kingers on the power play with a 5 on 3. Dean "The Dream" Cashman tipped in a perfect pass from the corner off of Ronnie "Hobbitville" Dupuis stick at with 5:45 remaining and scroing the only goal of the first period. All in all, there were 7 penalties called in the first period which was dominated by the Kingers.

The second period was all Brewers as they netted 3 goals to the Kingers 1 and outshooting them 14 to 8. The first two goals by the Brewers were both by Nick "Dr. McSelfish because I never pass, just finish......yes I finish really quickly" Bayley. The first coming off of a BEAUTIFUL backhand saucer pass from Chris "Whine and Cheese" Johnson as he cut into the Kingers zone, took a delayed hooking call from Stout and dished to Bayley who beat Turner high glove with a quick snap shot. The second goal was somehow even better as Joe "Lickity Splitz" Lyle hit Bayley near the far blue line with a breakout pass, Bayley who was immediately covered, made a quick drop pass back to a streaking Lyle. Lyle then carried the puck into the zone and dropped the puck back to Bayley at the blue line, who in turn passed it back down low to Lyle, who in turn found Bayley again in the high slot. Bayley beat one man like a red headed step child, and as he was walking into the mid slot, fighting off a defender and an upcoming delayed penalty, fired off a quick shot while being hauled down / falling. Amazing puck movements, 5 perfectly timed passes in about 15 seconds that lead up to a spectacular goal. Somehow Mikey "The Tripod" Hickey got an assist on that play, not sure how, but I think it was his first point in about 33 games, so I'll give it to him!

The Kingers tied it up on ANOTHER 5 on 3 with the Brewers Alfonse "THE FONZ" Sorrentino & Garren "The Ferret" Poirier in the box. Cashman got his 2nd goal by jamming in a rebound off of a shot from the point. There were a couple more penalties traded as the two teams got heated. I was watching the game from the far boards with the Maple Leafs squad, when a Leafs player turned to me and commented on the Brewers bench "Have they been bitching like this ALL night?" My response was "Yes, it's pretty sad, they should just shut the fuck up and play the game." Which was followed by a couple "OH MY GOD!!!!", "ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!?!?", "WHAT THE FUCK!!!!" comments from Brewers bench on a questionable offsides call. My advice is that it is great to be competitive and really into a game, but stop the bitching. If you are really into helping out your team, let your captain talk to the refs if you feel things are getting out of control.

On that note, and with the Kingers' Tommy "Guns" Scull in the box for roughing, Christain Isaac put the Brewers up 3-2 with a BUZZER BEATER as Chris "I wish I had a mute button for this guy" Johnson skated into the Kingers' near corner and found Isaac in the high slot all alone, Isaac let a wicked TWISTED WRISTER go that beat Turner high glove side.

END OF THE TWO: Storm Kings 2, Brewers 3
SHOTS: Storm Kings 26, Brewers 21

It only took 22 seconds for the Brewers Mullins to take his 3rd penalty of the game.....obviously still adjusting to the kinder, gentler, more friendly UVHL, as opposed to minor league hockey. The Kingers took the lead on another Cashman garbage goal, assisted by an obvious hand pass that the refs didn't see, and an Artie stout 5-holie goalio. Chris Johnson then decided to take 4 minutes in penalties for swearing at the refs and then throwing a temper tantrum in the penalty box.....all of which I heard about after the game......for 25 minutes.....making me want to either slit my throat, slit his throat, bash my head against the ice or jump into the Quechee Gorge. Listening to Johnson bitch about a call for 25 minutes really has to be the low point of my life. Even his team mates couldn't corroborate his tall tale about not doing anything wrong, when in all reality, just showing up to the rink is the wrong decision for Johnson.

Danny "Dough Boy" Charrette tied up the game with 3:53 remaining on another obvious hand pass that the refs missed forcing the game into overtime. One interesting thing that I did notice with just 7 seconds remaining and Artie Stout in the box again, was Joe Lyle coming up behind him and asking very politely "Hey Man, What's Your Problem?" The interesting part was that Artie threw a quick, no look, elbow giving Lyle a sweet little love tap in the jaw. Lyle didn't take to this nicely and challenged Stout to a dance at center ice. Artie wasn't in the dancing mood and politely declined Lyle's "advances."
