Maple leafs add to the win column.....FINALLY!!!!

In what was slated to be the BATTLE OF THE BASEMENT, turned out to be a pretty solid game between the Bruins(3-7-0) & Maple Leafs(1-8-1). With the absolute disastrous play from the Bruins over the past 3 weeks, including a 12.33 GAA for both the team and the giant wall of mush, Johnny "Super Chunk" Chamberlain, the Maple Leafs were favored by 1 goal with an over / under of 8.5 goals. The Leafs, championed by SUPERSTAR netminder Kenny "MVP" Lallier, were coming off of 4 consecutive SOLID losses to good teams. By SOLID I mean that they played very well even though the score did not go the right way.

The two basement dwellers came out slow, feeling each other out and trying not to be the first team to make a mistake. Despite only 6 shots on net in the first, the Leafs jumped out to a lead on their first shot of the game at the 12:25 mark. The goal came off of a Todd "Toady" Nallette wrister that beat Chamberlain high blocker. The Leafs managed to net another one with 7:45 remaining on a great individual effort by John "Cassavants Love Child" Thomas. Thomas chipped the puck by Tyson Seely in his zone on the far boards and was off to the races with Jordan McGee angling him off from the near boards. J.T. cocked the gun from the far faceoff dot and let go a SWEET KNUCKLER that both shocked and disgusted Chambo, beating him low stick side. Thomas raised his stick like he had just beat Chambo with a ROCKET of a shot in game 7 of the stanley cup finals. PRICELESS.

End of the first period: Bruins 0, Leafs 2
SHOTS: Bruins 8, Leafs 6
NO PENALTIES

The Bruins finally broke through in the first minute of the second period on a Matty "The Milk Man" Marrazzo one-timer that beat Kenny "La" Lallier high blocker. Lallier apparently tripped over himself tracking the pass from Jordan "Local Legend" McGee. The Marrazzo / McGee connection with a little Stevie "Geebies" Geiger, hooked up again just under 3 minutes later. Marrazzo broke into the Leafs zone and feathered a perfect pass to McGee, who in turn found Geiger off of the near post. Geiger returned the pass to Marrazzo on the back door and one-timed it past Lallier. Absolutely beautiful play.

The Leafs regained the lead with 9:28 remaining in the 2nd period when Colin Vernon jammed in a loose puck in front of some sort of hockey orgy in front of Chamberlain. There has been a debate as to who actually did score this goal, but there are also rumors of some ass grabbing too. The Bruins re-tied the game with 6:54 remaining when Tyson Seely beat Lallier with a LONG SLAP shot along the ice.

END OF THE 2nd PERIOD: Bruins 3, Maple Leafs 3
SHOTS: Bruins 18, Maple Leafs 23
ZERO PENALTIES

The 3rd period was tactical, as both netminders played stellar hockey and both clubs continued to play clean & smart hockey. The Leafs finally broke the tie with 6:50 remaining in the game when Dougie "Light Weight" Heavisides finished a Brian Gattie rebound. SHortly after the tie-breaking goal, Johnny McGee took the first penalty of the game for checking, followed by 2 roughing calls to the Leafs Heavisides & Bruins Jordan McGee and a hit after the whistle by the Leafs Brian Gattie all at the 3 minute mark. The Bruins couldn't capitalize on their power play, therefore giving the Maple Leafs their second with of the season.
