Leroy & Barker team up for 18 points in Kingers 14-5 SHALACKING of the B

What was supposed to be a nice and easy 3 goal win for the Kingers ended up being a 14-5 SHALLACKING of the Bruins. It only took me 6 days and 24 hours to get the courage up to do the write up for this 19 goal, 8 penalty, offensive disaster of a game retrospect.

In what would be one of the most amazing first 3 minutes and 32 seconds to start a game, these two teams traded 5 goals in an warm and yummy explosion of goal scoring ooze. The Kingers only took 29 seconds into the game to strike when Tim "The Last Dragon" Leroy beat Johnny "My GAA Be Climbin'" Chamberlain to take the 1-0 lead. Stevie "Geebies" Geiger deflected a Matty "Miller Time" Marrazzo shot just 32 seconds later to tie the game up at 1 apiece. The Kingers went back up on top just 25 seconds later when Robbie "The Price Is Wrong Byatch" Barker picked off a pass in the Neutral Zone, beat the defenseman at the Blue Line. Barker made a couple of moves, but lost the puck in the high slot right team mate Marty "Wicked Old Guy" White. White then feathered a nice pass back to Barker who beat Chambo mid glove. The Bruins tied it back up only 20 seconds later when Johnny McGee tipped in a point shot from his brother Jordan. Leroy collected his second goal of the game at the 11:28 mark, when he fired a wicked wrister from the near faceoff dot beating Chamberlain far post, halfway up the glove side.

Barker got his second goal of the period with 9:30 remaining when he carried the puck down the middle of the ice, fed Leroy who was tearing down the far side with some speed. Leroy made a moveand dished the puck back to the high slot where Barker one-timed it inside the post, blocker side. Barker made another great play with 2:54 remaining in the period as he carried the puck down the far boards and into the corner, sucking in 2 Bruins defenders, and feathering the puck back to the slot where Dean "The Dream" Cashman one-timed it far post blocker side. This seemed to be theme all night, the Kingers pulling Bruins players out of position and finding wide open guys in the slot. Chambo wasn't great, but in comparison to his team, he looked like an allstar. His team was constantly out of position, chasing guys along the perimeter and not protecting the front of the net.

Robbie Barker (2g, 2a) & Leroy (2g, 1a) did most of the damage for the Kingers in the first period. The Bruins just didn't seem to have an answer for them.

END OF THE FIRST: Kingers 5 Bruins 2
SHOTS: Kingers 21, Bruins 7

The second period started off where the first left off, the Barker & Leroy show in full effect. With Donnie "Darko" Powers in the box from a hooking penalty in the first, the Kingers took advantage of the horrific positioning of the Bruins squad. Cashman fed Barker down behind the net, who in turn found Leroy alone in the low slot. Leroy's first shot was saved by Chambo, but Leroy jammed the rebound in far post to put the Kingers up 6-2 only 38 seconds into the period. The Bruins did muster a couple of good scoring chances and Jordan McGee made a great play coming out of the corner, faking backhand, cutting back to the forehand and beating Turner high glove to cut the Kingers lead back down to 3, but that was the closest the Bruins would manage to get it.

Leroy got his 4th goal of the game at the 10:39 mark off of one of the most amazing redirection passes I have ever seen. With the Bruins' Jordan McGee in the box, Greg "GOOSE" Gosselin picked off a clearing attempt, threw a quick pass down to Barker who was standing at the goal line, to the right of the net. Barker looked up, saw Leroy all alone in front of the net, and took the bad pass off of his skate, redirecting it right through the top of the crease to an awaiting Leroy. 7-3 Kingers. Barker got his 4th goal of the game just 18 seconds later when he buried a shot from.....guess where, yes the slot, on a nice pass from Leroy.

The two teams battled for nearly 5 scoreless minutes before the Kingers took advantage of another Bruins penalty when Bruins' defenseman, Mike "The Beast" Harrington went to the sin bin for holding at the 6:21 mark. The Bruin's Dan "The Greasy Smoke Filled Mullet" found himself alone with the puck at his own goal line and decided it was a smart play to EASILY clear the puck up the middle through Robbie Barker, who graciously took the WEAK clearing attempt, walked into the slot and beat Chamberlain under the glove arm, through a screen. Gary "THE REF" Laperle gave the lone assist to #5, which in retrospect, is a sarcastic jab at the unassisted goal given to the Bruin's #5......Clabough. The Bruins were able to add another goal on John "Temper Tantrum" Turner, as Matty Marrazzo finished a Jordan McGee pass with 3:39 remaining in the 2nd.

The Kingers jumped into double digits with just 14 seconds remaining on ANOTHER Barker from Leroy before the Bruins closed out the 2nd just 6 seconds later when Jordan McGee beat Turner with a WICKED WRISTER under the crossbar glove side.

END OF THE SECOND: Kingers 10, Bruins 5
SHOTS: Kingers 39, Bruins 19

The 3rd period was more of the first and second, but actually didn't FEATURE the Leroy and Barker show, but did entail the Kingers striking first. Greg "Loosy Goosy" Gosselin put the Storm Kings up 11-5, beating Chamberlain cleanly from the near curling circle off of a nice pass from "The Dream". For the next 7 minutes the Bruins actually managed to pick up their game and play positional hockey, limiting the Kings scoring chances and shots drastically. That is until "The Dream" fed Dan "The Pizzaman" Peraza streaking up the middle. Peraza, beat a defender wide, cut back to the front of the net and beatch Chamberlain 5-HOLIO with 6:45 remaining in the game. Leroy got his 5th of the game with 4:33 remaining off of another Barker assist to put the Kingers up 13-5 and Stu "pid" Close closed out the scoring with 2:24 when he batted home a cross ice pass from the old one, Marty White.
