Bruins finish strong for 3rd place in 2006

Light rosters were again the playoff theme this evening, but the Bruins proved that it didn't matter how many players they had on their bench and that they've still got plenty of game left. Each team had several regulars absent from the line ups, but the game was competitive even though the score was lopsided in the Bruins favor. Leaf sniper Dave Fitts started the scoring at 6:43 of the first with the only goal Hadley would allow in the contest. Assists on the Fitts goal went to Doug Heavisides and Jason Loomis. Speedy Aaron Isabelle answered less than a minute later at 5:48 scoring on Leaf goalie Ken Lallier from defenseman Mike Harrington. Izzy got the eventual game winner at 4:44, this time from Dave DeSchamp, and earned a nod for Player of the Game in the process. Leaf penalty to justin Wing at 0:49 for tripping, but no PP goal for the Bruins. The first period ended 2-1 for the Bruins and was still anyone's game. The leafs went on a PP at 13:20 with Izzy in the box for the Bruins for hooking, but they couldn't convert. Big Daddy Shrek, Alec Jessiman, made sure to extend the Bruins lead with an unassisted goal at 8:31 of the second. Matt Marrazzo scored at 5:56 from Scott Fraser to make it 4-1. With Leaf winger Dave Fitts in the box at 4:03 for roughing, and then center Chris Gogan in the box at 3:02 for tripping, the Bruins scored on a 5-on-3 with Dave DeSchamp getting the goal on fine passes from Seth Warren and Scott Fraser. In the third Mike Harrington scored on a feed from Seth Warren at 4:30, and Matt Marrazzo finished the scoring at 1:49 from Izzy and Jessiman.
