description of Oliver falls on deaf ears over at Whaler's camp

Not on deaf ears but it's the liberties that are also taken w/ him that have me up in arms. If he does something and the ref doesn't call it who's to blame .. I am not blaming the refs and we all know Laim plays on "an edge of sorts" but is there a problem w/ hovering around the goalie for a few seconds.
Maybe that's why JT tried to take Shaw's legs off b/c he "hovered" to long not b/c he thought it was Liam?
Guys, I just think Liam is an easy target from years past .. Oh yeah, I also enjoy trying to defend him and watching Park's blood pressure and facial tint rise to unhealthy levels. It's the same satisfaction McD gets from a bowl full of wings.

Ok, Whalers, you have figured it out. The entire league got together last year when Oliver joined and said...."let's pick one poor sap to pick on." So every guy that every went near him has to cheap shot him for the hell of it.

It's true, collectively we picked a random target, it's not a coincidence that everyone "acts" like they hate him. He's 100% innocent and has not infuriated the 40 guys that have taken illegitimate cheap shots on him.

I'm glad you admit that the entire league takes cheap shots at him, and I question why, as a referee, you feel it's ok to discriminate your calls based on who is getting cheap shotted. Correct me if I'm off base, but refs are supposed to conduct themselves in an impartial manner. A penalty's a penalty no matter who takes it or who gets taken out, that's Jay's point.

And, while I might be new in this league, I've played every team and there's at least a douche bag or two on every single one of them (take that kid on the Brewers that challenged Jay to a fight, or that joker on Tuck that got mad that Scotty Shaw snowed his goalie moments after he snowed Kenny, or JT justifying his two-hander on Shaw with the fact that he thought it was someone else)...there's guys all around this league that demonstrate far less sportsmanship than makes sense for a once-a-week men's league.

I also get a kick out of how everyone in this (relatively) 30-some-odd-year-old league has their panties up in a bunch about some 19 year-old kid that measures 5-8 and weighs in at 145. Forgive me, but I find a certain irony in the smallest and youngest kid in the league being the one that gets the most attention when it comes to his physical play.

First off, that was called sarcasm, it's a tool that is frequently used with the intention " to make its victim the butt of contempt or ridicule." In this case, the Whaler's bitching and whining about the "cheap" shots that Oliver gets behind the plays. In a 2 ref system, most action behind the play, which in Men's league shouldn't be happening, doesn't get caught. If Avery has an issue with the "actions behind the play", maybe he should stop initiating contact and getting under people's skin. Having been the recipient of some of Avery's antics, I can say that he has perfected the art of avoiding the referee's eyeline when he takes his liberties.

It is funny how the only people willing to stick up for that little deuschbag are the people that don't have to play against him. And to call into question the referees intentions is a quick way to get your ass mandated to ref hockey games in the UVHL next year in order to play. That way some of you assholes can finally understand that there are 12 players spread across the ice and you can't fucking keep your eyes on all of them at all times.

My blood pressure is boiling and I'm about to hunt down Zanleoni and two hand him across the throat for starting this forum thread.

bottom line: keep your obnoxious little dog in check and we won't have any issues, otherwise, shut your fucking mouths, because you don't have the right to complain.

Park, as a whole, there isn't a lot of complaining about the refs. I think that the reffing is very suitable for the format of the league and that everyone has been doing a good job (that includes McWhistle, even if the league poll might have joked otherwise).

The issue that Jay is bringing up, and that I am echoing, is that many times the calls are different in regards to Oliver compared to the rest of the league. I'm not gonna stand up for all his actions, but it's a pain to the team when a player on our team (Oliver) takes a dirty hit but we don't get the benefit of a powerplay, even though if it happened to anyone else, it'd be a penalty. That's the complaint, it's not a knock on the reffing as a whole.

Also, I got the sarcasm here, I simply chose to ignore most of the post and focus on the part that admits "40 guys have taken cheap shots on him" for the sake of advancing my argument. You notice I also dismiss the sarcastic term "illegitimate" as I understand why Oliver has infuriated many people. But again, the point being that just because Oliver is an instigator, doesn't make it right to allow cheap shots to happen.

All I'm hearing here is "WAH WAH WAH....BOO FUCKING HOO". If Oliver is complaining about the retaliation, he probably shouldn't be instigating the issues in the first place. Don't Dish it if you can't take it. Secondly, if it isn't Oliver bitching about it, then you guys have no right to complain because he knows that he is getting back what he has instigated, and that is the risk of playing like Avery. Either way, you don't have a foot to stand on.

Additionally, I haven't not made a call, just because it was on Oliver. Most shit happens behind the play, because that is where that little shit operates. Sometimes I'll see the aftermath, but you can't make a call just because you see something that may or may not have happened. Stally, you are quickly working yourself into a mandatory reffing gig for next season, especially since you seem to think it is such an easy position, and that every call is obviously black and white.

I for one am turning over a new leaf, and re-instating my old pre-game ritual. Therefore, I will love and respect each and every player, and ref in the "U". Please excuse any former threats or physical contact I have administered to any of you. From now on, I will be weaving and deking my way through the ice with a huge smile on my face.
I love you Mary Jane...you had me at hello

You're complaining about our team complaining about your complaining about our teammate.

Listen to us, we sound like a group of seventh grade girls that got sent to the guidance counselor because we can't get along. Haha!

Kelly, if you pull my ponytail again, I'm gonna tell the teacher on you!

...Wow, that metaphor fits even better than expected with your first name, Parky :)
