From JT - I talked to our owner, Dan, yesterday, about the possibility of offering a similar deal on food/beer that we currently get at Bentley's.
Dan would be willing to offer the UVHL a promotion if it was worth his while in business, but we (as a league) would need to guarantee him some kind of commitment so that he knew it would be worth keeping the kitchen open an hour later than usual.

I have no problem switching venues. But I want an example of the promotion that they would run. Plus they need to have more than a couple of dozen wings, just in case McDiscipline shows up. |

The place sucks, AND they refused my Alaskan ID one night like I was a silly Canadian.
My vote is for Murphys, and that is all that really matters. |

My vote is for Murphys, and that is all that really matters. Obviously, it wasn't me, PB, I don't usually turn down a lot of IDs so long as they are over 21 and aren't expired and look legitimate. Also, not sure when you last went in there, but the new owner has really done a good job with the place (not to write off the fact that it's still stuck in the basement).
Yes, Kelly, 5 Olde is renowned for its wings, we have orders of 10 and 24, five different flavors, and plenty of blue cheese, but obviously, McDeep-dip could get an order of 48 or 72 or whatever multiple of 24 (or 10) he so chooses. I'll make sure it's a good deal, but again, as I said in my email to the Team Managers, I need to make sure it's worth keeping the kitchen open after 10. If people go to Murphy's, it circumvents the promotion.
Although I question judgment if you go to Murphy's. Seriously, I live in Hanover and go out there all the time, and you know how often I go to Murphy's!? Never! Not even the people that work at Murphy's go to Murphy's! Not to mention, the beers there are the most expensive in town (and, yes, that includes comparison to the Canoe Club). And, obviously, unless someone has been negotiating with them, there won't be a deal on anything, and the kitchen will still close at 10. |

 | Rib Night Feb 11th, 2010 01:50 AM
One other thing worth noting that Tuesday is rib night at 5 Olde, which means that ribs are just 75 cents each. This would only be applicable for the teams that arrived at the bar while the FULL kitchen was still open (before 10), but it's another perk.
I would expect that if the kitchen stayed open for us after 10, it would be on a limited menu, such as wings and other bar type food, so that the chef could close down some of the kitchen while he waited for the last game to finish. |

Sounds like this has potential, but did you know that the games are 40 minutes later at Campion vs. Woodstock? The early game starts at 7:10, and then you add 1h15 min plus 10 min scrape for each consecutive game making us finish around 11:25 (IF we are on time) plus shower and then to 5 Olde just before midnight after the last game. Let us know if this works, otherwise I know EBA's is open for food afterwards...

Cheapest beer would be a good draw, but the WINGS and Bleu have got to be QUALITY...I'm not talkin no "Chernobyl Farms" wings that look like something out of Pet Cemetary, and grow back as you eat them...although that would make McD absolutely nuts! Imagine only having to eat one wing, that constantly grew back, only having to continuously roll it in gob after gob of Bleu cheese??? Burrppp...I think I threw up a bit in my mouth.
On a serious note, I'm in for whatever place will have the best turnout. As long as I don't have to sit and listen to Jay-Z whine about protecting his snot-nosed little brother Liam...JK Z...see you fags on Tues. |

So, I checked back in at 5 Olde and it looks like the deal that we have would be late night wings. Wings would be priced like they are during wing night (50 cents/wing) and would be available in either orders of 10 or 24. These wings are pretty big wings, unlike Bentley's, so 10 should be a good individual order, 24 if you're splitting with 2/3. Pints of beer would be $3. Again, this isn't official, but I figured I'd start throwing out numbers.
McD, thanks for the heads up on the later scheduling. That makes it all the more important to either give a "yes" or "no" vote on this. In talking to the chef, he said that, ultimately, the easiest thing to do for the late crowd would be to just leave the fryer on and have the bartender drop the wings when the orders came in. |
