Tuckies @ Nordiques
After last week's horrific 11-3 blowout by the Gamblers, the Nordiques may possibly be the worst team in the State of Vermont...including the entire Squirt division. We all know that the Nordiques are not that bad, but how good they are is the big question.
Tuck had a solid win over Dead River last week, and seem like they will have yet another contender, but time will also tell how good they will be.
Just based on last week's performance, Vegas has Tuck taking this game 5-4. Being a bit biased, seeing that I am a Nordique, I'll say the Nords figure things out and take this one 6-3.
Nordiques Shake of Stink of Week 1, Roll Tuckies 112
The Tuckies came into this week after a solid win over the defending champion Dead River team. The Nordiques were coming off their worst loss in the history of the franchise as they were blown out 11-3 by the Gamblers. Tuck's off-season turnover in their roster had left the team with many questions, and tonight would leave them with even more as they were missing 5 key players. The Nordiques took full advantage of that, dismantling the Tuckies 11-2.
Tuck was shorthanded, rostering only 8 skaters tonight to the Nordiques 8 lines and 14 defensemen. Unlike the Gamblers who seem to be a One Line Show, the Nordiques spread out the scoring as every skater had at least one point. Leading the way for the Nordiques was Brian "Ratchet" Racicot who had a natural hat trick in the second period, also adding an assist. His first goal was a blast of a one-timer that Benny Dower didn't have a chance to save. There were three players that added a goal and a pair of helpers (Greg "The Butcher of Hanover" Marsh, Jordan "Knight" McGee & Roger "The Rusty Dentist Drill" Phillips).
The Nordique's Johnny "Temper Tantrum" Turner was rolling through the game, making key saves when needed, until co-commissioner Shawn "The Jinx" McDermott said to the bench, let's get JT the shutout. It was almost immediate that Tuck scored a pair of goals in 37 seconds to close out the second frame. McDermott did have a career high with two beautiful assists.
The Nordiques look to stop the Brewers winning streak next week, while Tuck has the unlucky task of trying to shut down the Gamblers in week 3.
Don't forget to vote for the Long Trail Player of the Week! A case of beer is on the line, eh!
